@PoeticDragon We've met in person only once. During my sister's puppy (Nabi - Hobo pup) pick up trip. We flew in for the weekend and went to the Nisei festival. I met you and your pretty pups at the Akiho booth.
I'd estimate that Saturday's JACA-UKC show will end around noon. It should be faster than a BSA show because dogs do not go through pre-judging with only one dog in the ring at a time. Instead, dogs enter into the ring in class groups and are evaluated one-by-one.
The Sunday show, the AKIHO show, is more similar to the BSA show. There's individual pre-judging, usually a lunch break, and then dogs are brought back as a group and given placements. Depending on how long the individual pre-judging takes (ie. how resistant the dogs are), I'd guess the show will end at 1-2 pm.
The Saturday show is a UKC show and so I'd guess there are UKC rules about non-entered dogs on the grounds. I don't know how AKIHO feels about it. However, the show is at a public park. If you're discreet, like not letting your dogs meander within 10 ft of the show ring or letting your dogs agitate the show dogs even when they're in their crates, I don't think the show organizers will kick you out...
Last year someone let their little yappy thing walk right up to Mosura's crate and bark at her. Bleh. All my crates this year have solid sides, no open wire cages.
Unfortunately I screwed up something on my camera and three quarters of my photos were overexposed. But here are a couple that don't suck - our lovely Gamera!
I only attended the JACA/UKC show on Saturday, but I'm proud of the people who were willing to try something new and expose their dogs and themselves to a different kind of feedback.
For me, my favorite moment was when a non-dog show person with a difficult dog made it through the hands-one examination on Saturday. For a little bit last year, I had went on walks with him and his dog with my PoongSoon, to desensitize the dog and to talk about reading dog signals and thresholds. His dog might have regressed on Sunday, but on that Saturday in the UKC ring, he knew his dog and knew what to do to keep him from going over threshold. I was really happy for him even though he didn't get 1st in his group.

I really love the color on Kumohibiki- he's super dark! Probably his tail could be curlier, but I think its a pretty glam tail and rather laid back just like it is. I love Sachiko's eyes in that head shot! I like Fluffy-Puff's gait (tho not so much her name)
Zenkichi- I just want to feel him! and Bankomaru looks fantastic... so many nice akitas...

Since I don't have an Akita, I'd just be there for you guys, and ooohs and aaahs. Are outside dogs allowed like at BSA?
Any Japanese Akita can enter but they must register with UKC. Just like ACA nationals require an AKC pedigree.
