What cute boys! I love the look Nero is giving the camera in the second pic. I have a cat that weighed as much as Mojo (until we put him on a proper diet), but he looked like a beach ball, not a bad ass!
We finally received our 'permit' for the forest preserve and took Nero too the Dog Park this weekend. He did extremely well with the other dogs there. We had one lab, maybe 120 lbs worth want to play which caused some concern. The lab's owner fortunately pulled him/her away.
I'll post more pics as soon as I transfer them from my camera and I took a few videos too but I have to figure that out.
"Wait, where we going?"
"Ok, really...can't we just take the leash off this once?"
@mdokic He really does have a squishable face. We took his collar off in the house this weekend and he has the makings of a mane. One of his absolute best traits is when he is relaxed and you get down to floor level, or when he comes out of his crate, he goes belly up for some tummy love! And he will lay there and take it for a long time. Some days in the morning I have to manually coax him to get up to go out for his first potty break.
Beautiful! He's so handsome. @Valkyrii Rika does the funny back roll thing too. When she wants to play or just get attention, or if she's feeling happy, she'll roll onto her back and squiggle around like she's a helpless turtle. Of course while she's making sure she's gotten my attention. :-)
Nero graduated his first puppy class and has moved on to the intermediate class. I'm still looking for agility training in the area in time slots I can manage however.
He's about 24lbs so finally passed Mojo the cat (LOL)
"Look Dad, I R Smart!!!"
After a long night of partying after graduation:
"Unless there is a cookie or a rabbit in it....I'm staying right here."
My daughter managed to get 2 of my favorite pictures to date:
Grats Nero! He's quite a good looking little gentleman. I love how most of the pictures are of him laying down, otherwise he's probably just a blur I'm guessing.
@tmd We call them 'puppy bursts' and laying down seems to be the best time to get picture of him, otherwise he is constantly on the move, whether its our daily exercise, tormenting one of the cats, trying to get to kids because there is some heavy attention to be had there! (He LOVES kids.)
When we get home after his evening run he usually wants to play and makes it a point to bring us his toys for one game or another. He is really good about 'communicating' he wants something.
Awe, that's so great! We call them 'zoomies' and anytime, like in the last few days of heavy rain, he's cooped up for long, he has to zoomy it out, whether that be outside in the yard or inside across and over the couch and the fireplace and kitchen table and anywhere else he can get to.
I wish Hanzo would bring us a toy to play with. Most of the time he makes a good decision to play with one of his toys, but if he gets particularly bored and isn't properly tired out, he'll grab the first thing he can get his mouth on and run away. He loves stealing stuff he's not supposed to have. You can tell he knows it too, because he runs differently, almost gleefully. He does this even before we have a chance to react to him so we know it's not our body language that triggers the mischievous prancing. It's hard to be upset though when he looks so cute doing it.
Nero graduated the intermediate puppy class this weekend. I was talking with the instructor who we really like and she commented that she is amazed how non confrontational Nero is with other dogs.
His only pitfall when he meets new dogs is he wants to reach out with his paw and that can intimidate other dogs. He doesn't get spooked by growling and will often go to ground belly up (which has its downsides) but he really isn't confrontational at all.
I'll post a new pic or two once Photobucket starts cooperating again.
Nothing spectacular, but I did get a chance to get a few new pics of him this weekend running rampant. My daughter thinks his head needs to grow into his body now..lol (I think he's perfect!!!) He met a few more family members this weekend and was the center of attention.
Yesterday I decided to partake in a beer on the balcony. He decided to bring every toy he could find and pile them up at the sliding door until he got my attention. Gotta love him.
@Kiri_Inu His last vet visit he was 29 lbs at 7 months old (about a month ago.) I'm sure he's added a little weight since then too. That reminds me I need a fresh weight on him.
This weekend he decided I was not allowed to nap...nothing like a wet nerf ball to the face!
He also got to meet my brother's new dog, they were BFFs in no time!
Comments
"Where we goin' Dad?"
"Are we there yet?"
"I drool on your window because I love you!"
"I love you Bear"

It almost feels wrong to post these:
