Please help us prepare for winter...
Please visit our GoFundMe campaing to help us raise money for a much needed utility vehicle: http://www.gofundme.com/Nihon-Ken-Utility-Vehicle
The focus of this campaign is to raise money for the purchase of a utility vehicle. This utility vehicle will help us reduce costs associated with wear and tear on our current family vehicle, provide a better and more active life for our dogs, as well as allow us to perform tasks around the ranch that we currently have to pay other people to do for us (harvesting and hauling firewood, clear snow, food harvesting, etc).
It may seem odd for us to ask for help in the purchase of a vehicle, but with winter approaching quickly, we’d like to purchase this vehicle as quickly as possible. With my recent layoffs, and the expense associated with moving and running our preservation, saving for this vehicle has been slow. Due to this, all of the money brought into our preservation from the placement of puppies and donations, has gone back into the effort. Very little of those funds has been put toward the purchase of a utility vehicle. Our hope is that the money raised in this campaign will augment the money we have already saved and allow us to purchase the vehicle much quicker than our current projected purchase date.
The reason we need another vehicle for these tasks is due to the wear that has been put on our current truck, which is also our daily driver, and the associated expense to fix that wear on a newer vehicle. Our hope is that, with the addition of this utility vehicle, the wear on our family truck will be reduced and allow us to keep that truck in better working order. The cost to fix wear issues on an older more rugged vehicle will be much less than on our current Toyota. Also, our hope is that this utility vehicle will aid in transporting our dogs to less-accessible places.
The type of vehicles we are considering are retired military vehicles equipped with a Power Takeoff (PTO) which would allow us to use the vehicle as a tractor as well as a utility vehicle. We’re considering two types of vehicles: small footprint vehicles (older Jeep CJ, Halflinger, etc) and large footprint vehicles (Unimog, M35A, 6x6 Pinzgauer).
