I can't keep this to myself any longer!
I have some super exciting news! For the past year I have been actively pursuing a Shikoku pup. After the disappointing news I received from Katja a few months back,I contacted a very good friend of mine with close ties to Japan & nihon ken I told her about my quest, and she talked with a few of her connections in Japan. This is a very long story but the short version is she found me a female Shika puppy from a very highly respected shikoku breeder and he agreed to sell her to me. My friend will be traveling to Japan next week to the Nippo show and will be bringing her back . I've been keeping this to myself because I really didn't think this could become reality, but it appears that all the T's are crossed & the I's dotted. She is to fly in Thanksgiving day!!!!

How exciting is that??? (I am literally jumping out of my chair in excitement!) And a Thanksgiving day pup at that! :-D
Can't wait for the spam!
Snf
You should uh, ya know, work your networking skills and snag a few more for the rest of us
Congratulations!
Do you know what kennel she is from?
Well, remember to post up photos and videos of your sure to be cute upcoming little dragon lady! =(^-^)=
[Oh, oh...tell your friend to take photos at Nihon Ken Show if she can .]
I just emailed my friend & asked her to take photos at the show that I can share. I know the breeders name ,I will try to get the kennel name. It has been a real challenge with the language barriers. Can you read Japanese?
I hope that you plan to keep her intact and do a breeding with Katja or something. It would be a shame to import a high quality Shikoku Ken pup and not use their bloodlines to increase the gene pool in the states.
In case it's not obvious, there is a VERY SMALL gene pool here in North America - and only a few stud dogs. Hints the long wait you had for a Shikoku pup.

Congrats man. I know you've been really excited for a while.
I'll second what Brad said. I hope you'll contribute to the gene pool. It's certainly needed.
