Nice that wasn't on any of the websites. The Hilton is sold out.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I can drive in on Thursday after work and maybe stay outside of Costa Mesa splitting the trip to four hours on Thursday and maybe two hours on Friday morning. I guess I need to figure that out. Driving with Koda is a pain in the ass.
Could you ask what the pet weight restriction is at Regency? I'm thinking of crashing in a friend's camper because it's hard to find something that takes a 70+lb dog.
@ayk I didn't call there. It's close, but the reviews said a lot of stray cats. I don't feel like wrestling Koda everytime I leave the room. Cats are meant to be hunted, and I don't need a wild Kai running around in a busy area. ha ha ha.
I think it said $129 per night for there. Not sure about pet deposit/fees.
I'm close (in the grand scheme of things) but not *that* close for people to be staying with us and attending the Expo. I wish I was. Hotels with pets can be a PITA.
My friends' friends usually set up an RV camp. One person's must take a good hour to set-up kennel row with flooring (plastic bamboo mats), double gates, shade cloth, and many, many pieces of x-pens zipped-tied together for strength. I think they also pitched a tent as well for the boys who don't want to hang out inside the RV.
@brada1878 I hadn't decided yet. I was going to make the reservation tonight since a couple are sold out or say only 5 rooms available on websites.
Here's just the expedia list. We will have to check pet allowance rules. How many dogs are you bringing? I'll email you after lunch. That's when I'll find out for sure.
I'll take Kishin!!! JK. That's good. I think I saw that hotels had 3 dog limits. We can register a couple with my room.
I am going by the way. I accepted a position with a new organization and my start date will be the Monday after the expo. I'll be taking that Thursday and Friday off and driving down on Thursday. I have some family that lives in Mission Viejo, so I'll probably pop down there for dinner on Thursday. I'll be able to spend all day Friday and Saturday at the expo, and probably just the AM on Sunday.
Koda is pretty good at lasting all day in public with a nap in a crate. We've done festivals etc. before. I hate to say that. I may jynx myself. Murphy's Law has been a beast to me this year.
@brada1878 I love my dear friends who all want to move in with me at some point or another, but geesh it's time to take back control of my home. They all ask to stay for 3 months, and then a year and a half later are really comfortable in staying.
Being new to forum, I'm excited about finally having a chance to see several Kai Ken and meeting some of you owners. I can come Friday or Saturday... Which day... And time of day would give the best chance of having biggest number available? I want to be as prepared as possible when I finally get to the top of Brad and Jen's list for an Ayu puppy.
Dogs usually need to be rotated out in hour shifts. ie. one dog resting away from crowd, the other dog out. A more experienced dog can be out longer though.
The crowd and the noise can be wearing at time for both dog and human. I always pack lots of headache medicine for myself, and I guess Corina reserves a dog crate for napping. :-)
If there's only one dog in a booth, I would have no hesitations about crating and resting them even if the public can't see them. We keep a binder of large-size photos so people can still get an idea of what they look like.
Really hoping not to just look at pictures. Would Friday be less crowded or is this just the wrong setting to get a chance to spend some time and observe one or more Kai? Attending the Expo was previously suggested by a forum member.

@poeticdragon - Sounds good to me!

I have to drive home on Sunday. Just an FYI.
