  • We're this close to the show and there's so many empty spots still...

  • I just spoke to corina. We are supposed to be in wall booths. I honestly want us moved. Mika will drive me nuts where we are. I don't want her curtain fighting other dogs she can't see.
  • I'm worried about kaiju too. His new thing is fence fighting. The neighbors dogs do it and It drives him bonkers
  • When the bloodhounds were behind you guys, I would have said there would be no worries about fence/curtain fighting. They're usually under control and not one to start something. But it looks like a rescue group with mostly small dogs are behind you guys now. So plan accordingly. Use x-pens, let dogs drag leashes, bring distractions to draw them away from the neighbors, etc.
  • I'll be there with Shoushuu, Kotomi, Sakura and Kanani. I left a message on Friday about needing to be moved against the wall. I will call them again on Monday during business hours. I still do not understand why we got assigned aisle booths. My guess is that someone new is in charge of breed booths this year.
  • The Kai/Shikoku/Kishu booths got moved against the wall!
  • Corina, you should share what you did/said to the organizers in the hopes that the JA people can do the same thing:-).

It stands to reason that pitbulls should be right beside their other bully brethren so people can readily tell the difference between bull breeds. That way we can get the JA people right beside us:D

  • Does anyone know anything about Te Winkle Park? I want to be able to meet up with the NK people (on Sunday) that can't bring their dogs to the Expo (since they're not letting pets in this year) and it's really close to the Expo site. On that note, anyone interested in meeting up Sunday early afternoon after the morning part of the Expo?
  • A little update for me. I'll be there with just Mika. Koda will be going in for knee surgery as soon as I can get it scheduled.
  • Poor Koda. :( Looking forward to seeing Mika though! :)
  • Poor koda-bear! I hope his surgery goes well!,
  • Thanks. Koda will be fine. It's not his first surgery and it won't be his last. We just need to fix a couple of things.

I can't wait for you all to see Mika! My guess is she will have a crush on Kaiju and Kishin. She likes bad boys. Lol. She's really cute when she's flirty.

I'm hoping Akashi will be her rock. She may be a little nervous out in the world without Koda. But she's so damn cute that I have to show her off.
  • I foresee a NK overdose for me those couple days.
  • Tewinkle Dog Park is just outside of the OC Fairgrounds. There's a small dog park section and a large dog park. There's also a fence area within the large dog park for us to gather around if we want to keep our encounters focused and keep our dogs somewhat separate from the other large dogs. The large dog owners are friendly, there's plenty of room for your dog to run and it has a mix of dirt and grass.

  • @CrimsonO2 - I think @creativejen's concern is that Kishin is not a dog-park dog.
  • It's big enough so he'll have space, and it's within walking distance from the Expo so he'll be able to expel a bit of energy. There's rarely more than 2 dozen dogs in the large dog area. I've linked the expo show (and our booth location) relative to the bark park itself.

  • Julie may be able to watch Kishin at the expo. @creativejen @brada1878
  • Koda will be at the expo!! He doesn't need surgery. We will manage the injury with glucosamine shots.
  • "Rarely more than 2 dozen dogs?" that's a lot of dogs loose together. 8(
  • It is but the dog park is about the size of a little league baseball diamond. They are pretty well behaved and the owners actually watch their dogs to make sure no disagreements escalate above a squabble. It's more 12-18 dogs at any time than 24.

  • Don't forget that you'll have a bunch of out-of-town visitors that weekend.

@*JackBurton* or @poeticdragon - Do you know the location of the Japanese ramen place near the Pet Expo?

I might go there for dinner so I can eat fast with the dogs in the car. The pup might be too noisy to leave in the hotel unattended.

    Edit: Nevermind. Found it.

  • I have some bad news. Koda went lame on Sunday, and I just dropped him off to the surgeon's office. They are going to go ahead and do TPLO surgery today. I can't make the expo with him down from such a major surgery. :-/ Julie is going to assist in taking my spot at the Kai booth, but I won't have Mika down there.
  • sorry to hear that you wont be able to make it, but Koda's health comes first! I hope he feels better soon!
  • Thanks. I feel really bad. I was hoping and praying that Koda wouldn't have to go through this. I just don't have anyone who can take care of him, and honestly I can't bare to leave him like this. I'm really sorry everyone.

Good news is that both legs are metal now, so we won't bail again. :-D
  • Unfortunately, I am not going to make it to the Expo this year, either. :( We have too much going on here right now with work and everything. Sorry for dropping out so last minute...I really wanted to make it out there.

  • So no Kai and Kishu at all this year? That's really too bad.

It might mean next year the organizers won't honor requests for wall booths or adjacent booths.
  • There are other Kai and Kishu owners who can go and represent the breeds. There are even some in Cali who wouldn't have to make the 8 hours drive to get there...
