Little introduction to our new baby, she doesn't arrive home until 17th so have no real idea yet what she is going to be like apart from been a cutie pie. i do know that if things with her don't work out then she will be my last Japanese Akita.
we had a male that had health and temperament issues, and we have a bitch that had fertility issues and is still suffering from skin problems relating to that.
@venus may I ask where you got your past akitas? I'm really sorry to hear that you've had issues, it makes me sad whenever I hear of things like that. I hope that this next puppy turns out well, she is such an adorable puppy!
Both where from uk breeders. Our male was from akakuro and was out of a uk bred bitch Kyokujitsu Fujita Go and Italian import Kajitsu No Hinomaru-Go. He was from a close mating and i would never consider a puppy from such these days. Our girl is a tycon bitch and again out of a uk bred bitch tycon eternal flame and a shirai male kaidou go shirai.
little update on Eris , she is a sweetie but so naughty and cheeky. She seems to like getting behind things and has been stuck behind the garden shed a number of times.
The big dogs find her a little over bearing but we are slowly getting there with them. Them all contracting kennel cough hasn't helped at all especially with Athena as she is the household drama queen and doesn't have kennel cough but clearly thinks she is suffering from triple pneumonia.
We have started a little training which is going well she already knows sit, down and stand although standing still is a near impossibility she as so much energy. I was hoping to start her in obedience classes next week but with everything we will be holding that off a week. My bad photography skills are of no use at all with her so we have very few photographs but I'll put a few of the better ones up.
so its been a while since we updated Eris thread so though it was time for new photos. She is growing really fast like all puppy's she doesn't seem to have been a baby 2 minutes. Speaking to the owners of her sisters she is by far the biggest of the 3 girls in the litter, although they all seem to have the same cheeky personalities. These are a few of her taken over the last few weeks. She is 5 and half months and has her frst show at the beginning of October.
Awwww she's lovely! Looks as if she is growing much faster than her brother who I have, he is still so out of proportion and lanky looking. Do you know how much she weighs by any chance? She looks a lot more chunky than Hubble, I know all dogs grow differently but now I'm scared that he is underweight as he looks about half her size!
she is a big girl, but has no fat on her at all. She has a really thick coat now its actually started to come in. i weigh her weekly as i raw feed so need to keep an eye on her weight to make sure she gets the right amount of meat. she weighed 22.6 kg on friday. the other thing to remember is Eris was chunkier as a small puppy. One of the things that attracted me to her was her build. I also think her diet has had a really positive effect as well.
Little update on Eris, she is almost 9 months old already. She has been entered in a number of shows to date and been placed every time including 2 best puppy in breed and a 2nd place in puppy group. Qualified for crufts at her first championship show and seems to be loving every minute of it now after a shaky start.
She also passed her good citizens bronze award at obedience although she finds it completely boring and makes it known quite often that she would rather be playing with the other dogs than training.
She is very much our naughty dog who still likes chewing shoes and generally doing things you would rather she didn't if you take your eyes off her for more than 5 minutes but she is such a love it's hard to not laugh at her at times.
I've not got any really decent photos of her at the moment just some from my phone so apologises for the quality.
She spent over 4 hours sat, stood or laying her waiting for a rabbit to defrost for her dinner, think we can say its her favourite food.
Unfortunately, but I can forgive her for it lol. We have a few here in the uk, some related to Eris through her granddams side and a girl from Erika mason kennel. My other half loves it, I don't.
She is a sweetie, she is such a social girl. And I love that about her. While I'm not overly happy about her colouring it's not the end of the world. I knew when I got her there was a chance she would be sesame with her been such a dark girl and her older sister was just the same and she is sesame. Just wish some judges actually knew breed standard before they take judging appointments. Kinda of disheartening when the judge asks if the black will fade and when told no then asked if your dog is a sable. You know then your not getting placed lol.

Thanks for sharing these photos of Eris! Good luck at the dog show.

Getting ready for her first champ show.
Exhausted after destroying her toy.
