I can't believe someone would let their Shiba get to 64 lbs?!? That is so unhealthy -the poor Hattie!

With the colder weather and the time change I hardly ever see the dog walkers in the park anymore :(. However, yesterday I set out to do a couple miles and passed by an elderly woman and her dog. He was so friendly and well behaved. She said she'd had him forever and he was a lab mix - with the thicker fur and the shape of his tail I was wondering if it was a lab-chow mix. She said they were just taking a little walk cause it's so hard for her to do anything really long with the colder weather, but he really needed to get out. They were so adorable. She had a little bandanna on him and a harness for walking along with his collar. We also have a young lady with the most adorable bull dog I pass on occasion when I am heading for a walk. He is also a little sweetie. Other than that, the parks gotten really lonely :(. I'm thinking of trying to switch up my running times. There were a couple of new dogs out there a month ago, and one was rather large (up to my waist) with soft gray curly hair. The owners were very sweet and I wanted to have a chance to ask what breed it was.

    Idiot children!!!!!!

Tosca can be shy around people, especially on our walks. Today when we were walking two annoying, kids come barreling out of their backyard screaming, "Get back here! We wanna play with the doggie!" Tosca was unsettled but kept walking. The kids started to try to sneak up on us and again Tosca did her best to ignore them. Every once in a while she'd look up at me as if to say, "Those miscreants are still back there." When she stopped to do some sniffing, the two chubby girls who looked to be about ten-ish hid behind a bust that was about eighteen inches across... largely unsuccessfully. I said "You know she can see you, right?" They didn't respond, so I added "chasing us just makes her upset and less likely to be friendly if you did happen to catch up to us."

I did ponder flinging the little sachet of Tosca presents I had picked up earlier at the little cretins, but I chose to remain civil for the sake of the dog.
*edit- I do hope that this experience won't taint her perception of girls of that age too much, otherwise my little cousin's visit over the holidays will be even more difficult than I'm predicting. Hmmm... maybe if I essentially turn said cousin into a walking treat dispenser...
