Yeah, I know how the throwing up thing goes. Kuma does it every so often. It's a great thing to mop up, isn't it?
Kuma sometimes does it not only because of the water, but because he eats fast. I have to get him a slow down bowl.

Hmm... I was actually expecting more dog food than that... But then again, my two Shibas go through a 33 lb bag of Solid Gold in 4 weeks... (yes, I know I have two little piggies... but they run it off!)

    Brad
How can I build a poo composter? Is is a cut the bottom off a bin then stick it in the ground job?
At the mo I just keep it in a bin outside Specially marked for POOp....Lord it smells!!

Maybe my maths is wrong but I seem to pick up more poop than I give him food....
I think I go through about 3 or four kg a month...

That's a lot of food! I'm a little sick in the head, so I'd like to see the poop.

Steve, we have one of these:
    http://www.naturemill.com/
and it handles poo for two shibas, it got a little crazy when we had 3-4 though.

My ultimate goal is to make an outdoor-inground composting system. Just google "pet waste composter" and you'll get a lot of neat ideas.

That is so good. I want a nature Mill...We live in Japan but I think I am going to suggest it to the mrs. We cook alot too so we are always throwing away alot of vege matter. I want to make compost for the garden but in Japnese hot summers it cause smell issues and roaches!!

We plan to follow this guide for making a pet waste composter.

I made one when we lived in ATL that worked pretty well. We will have to have several very large ones and add more septic stuff and water on a regular basis.

I dread digging the holes, so I am gonna wait for the snow melts to I can do it in the mud and not have to chisel through dried New Mexican earth.

I told my brother about this thread and his question was "Hasn't anyone ever been on a farm and had to muck a stull or clean up manure?" I told him several probably had, but I don't think many of us have seen that much dog poop in one location.

at the farm sanctuary, they have a few composting bins but more often it gets piled below the field and topped with quicklime

The compost doesn't have to be buried, does it? I compost the litter box just in a bin. Granted, it takes a full year (at least) for pet waste to safely compost, but I use wood pellets as litter, then just dump the box in a bin and cover it with weeds. It doesn't smell. I'll probably set up a dog poops compost place in my dog yard once that gets going (for now, there's enough space that I don't bother picking it up). I'll probably just cover each "deposit" with weeds, sawdust, peat moss, whatever.

Looks like a giant pile of poop. LOL. In retrospect, I'm not quite sure what I was hoping to see.

    Thanks!

Oh my gosh, it's a big frozen poop block-those turds are huge! I didn't know you had German Shepherds.

There must be some industrial use for such large quantities of dog shit. Can it be made into car fuel or something? If so, you guys will be making bank.

    That's a Bucket O' Shit right there lol :) ~

It's a giant poo-cicle! Hmmm, perhaps you could develope some sort of poo-powered home heating unit. You'd have to something about the smell though.

    Lol @ poo-cicle.

Norcal Waste Systems, located in San Francisco, is looking at the feasibility of using dog waste as fuel for methane digesters. The methane digester (which is full of poop-loving microorganisms) would then convert the waste into methane. The methane could then be used to generate power for electricity or to heat homes. Methane can also be turned into liquid natural gas, which can be used to power cars!

Wow... Giant block of frozen poop. I think I may have just changed my mind about owning more than 2 dogs. :)

That has been being collected since the first snow - so that's a bout 2 months worth of poo. We plan to put some dog poo septic systems in, we wanted to do it before the winter but life got in the way. So now we are collecting the poo until the snow clears enough to dig our septic systems and then dispose of the poo - tho we will have to so it in stages and divide it amongst the septic systems.

    It really sux.
