Honestly I LOVE bees. One of my favorite animals. I would love to have a hive and collect my own honey. The bee was in my house on the ground. It was Ruby's fault. Bee is dead (Jay squished him, I'm sad about that). Poor little guy working for his lady (the queen).
I just do not like any kind of bugs. I've learned to deal with them because of my job, but insects just creep me out now. I would have freaked out if I was aroud a bunch of hives.
Poor Ruby, I hate bee stings. Be sure to give her plenty of kisses
Oh Joe/Dawn, don't step in my mom's house. She raises Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and a 20yr old Tarantula (mother's day gift 2yrs ago). She loves to show them off and has a collection of old roach 'skins' that she likes to put on people's shoulders and scare them with. My mom is incredibly weird and somewhat crazy.
I didn't know you had Millipedes. I have a giant african millipede and hope to get more (very helpful at cleaning gecko food dishes) but for some reason no one carries them any more.
*shivering* aye yai yai, Joe/ Dawn I'm with you on that one I HATE bugs (except for bees (mmm honey) and spiders (bug killers), Anything creepy crawly makes me want to run around and go eww die!! Thank god Shao New is the bug chewing queen (and would probably get herself in trouble like Ruby).
Calia, no offense, I hope to never get the chance to go inside your mom's house while she's raising "bugs" as I call them ;-)
There is only 1 reptile store near me, and the constant change of ownership is taking it's toll on the place. I've more been purchasing my wants (more big millipedes) and needs (crickets and enclosure stuff) at reptile expos/conventions. So much cheaper, more choices and you have the opportunity to haggle. Yeah, and those rainbow Vietnamese ones are pretty.
She is almost completely back to normal. We gave her 2 doses of Benedryl last night (five hours apart). Her lip is slightly droopy but not at all swollen. She didn't even slow down a bit though. Little trooper.
Sorry to hear she got stung, but glad she's feeling better.
I'm not big on bugs, spiders, reptiles, etc. but can deal if they are in containers. They have a place in nature and serve a purpose, but you won't find me searching them out.
In the house I grew up in, we were swarmed by honey bees - it took forever to get a beekeeper to come and get them - sections of the house had to be removed to get out all of the honey.
The first time I was stung by a bee it was at a party in my back yard. I was about 6 years old. A bee flew up my shorts and stung the tendon between my thigh and my groin. I don't think I have ever screamed so loud. Ruby took it way better than I did.

Poor Ruby girl!! No more biting at bees, my little red friend!
Sage sends his sympathy, he knows how it feels:
He could hardly open his eyes, yet remained charming to all the ladies at the vets office...
Little Ruby is so cute, even with a puffy face.

Consider Ruby smooched.
I hope she'll be her happy self again when she awakes!

Good to hear Ruby is doing better though!
Is Puff Baby feeling better yet?

Glad to hear that Ruby is doing better! Bee stings definitely do not seem to be any fun.
Ruby took it way better than I did.
