This is the look I live for- happy Sage! (edited to have a bigger photo)

The crookedest picture of his famous nose

Dog field days- proof that as a puppy he was pretty dog-social

More Field friends. This dog is Yankee- crappy lighting but I think the juxtaposition with Sage is hilarious..

He loved playing with my brother's pointer puppy, Dell, when she was little. As she got older he discovered that Dell is an uncomfortable close-talker and has a much smaller personal space bubble around her (my brother says she has NO sense of personal space) than he does.

Loki the cat has no problem with being a pillow for Sage. He loves her. They watch football together.

We did agility together for several months. We passed group Obedience 1, but got kicked out of Beginner Agility class because he hated being teased by the border collies and got in trouble for cussing them out. This was from our private class- like his Kai brethren, he loved all the tall obstacles- A-frame and Dog Walk best.

I get hay bales for the dogs sometimes to make the yard new and fun. We get 6-8 of them and build a tower or in this case a little fort...Reilly looks like a bank teller.

haytellers

Again- he likes to be perched on top of things. He looks all reflective, but he's actually watchdogging out the front window to see if the neighbors' cat is out.

Great pics! The haybale idea is brilliant, I have a huge ugly spot in my backyard that I've been trying to figure out what to do with, so I think I'll look into building mine a fort too. Thanks!

Oh what a handsome boy Sage is... I too like the hay bale idea.

His face is like a bear's- a little bear with a busted nose- here he is all covered in seeds from the tall hay.

and finally, look: he's got one ear up!

Awww. I love his little crooked nose =0)

me too! Our vet calls in any new staff when we come in to show off Sage's wry bite. Even if I come in with just Reilly, he tells the tech, "You have to see Chrystal's other dog, he has the most amazing wry bite Ive ever seen..."

Thanks for looking at his thread, and the kind words everybody!
I have some Sage frisbee footage, and howling footage- but I need to learn iMovie before I can share it.

Those pics are awesome! His face is just too cool on a dog.

Awww, Sage is such a cutie. I drove through Grafton yesterday on my way back from Six Flags and I said "HEY!" to you guys telepathically....hope you got it :)
  • edited November -1
yes, I was waiting for my order at the deli and shouted back "Hey Kristin!" out loud by mistake and drew a lot of strange looks... :)

Love that picture of Sage wet in the grass. He's a great looking boy, both of your dogs are great looking.

Sage is so awesome. :) I love his kitty pillow. lol.

What lovely photos! I love his crooked nose - the character it shows!

I think he broke his own mold- there's no other like him. My mom says he has a face only a mother could love. She is not that mother, however.
Sage and my mom- really he loves her, but she thinks he's a gargoyle.

I love Sage's brindle! He's a good looking pup... I like the "happy sage" picture.

We have "bear bells" too, Blue had one on today on our walk - same one! :o)

My dogs are very hard to see in the woods, even a few yards away, so when we go offleashing they wear bells. I got two different bells because I want to hear who's who. Sage has a bear bell and Rei has a swiss bell, which has a deeper tone. They also wear reflective orange collars and during actual hunting season (yes I have a schedule) they wear orange vests.

Those are my sis' dogs, Cleo the lab and Cody- who was billed as a St Bernard by the rescue she got him from. He's probably sheltie-beagle.

This is Rei in full hunting season safety wear:

great spam of you pack. I guess I must be a mother because I love Sage's grin, and his brindle is gorgeous. I think he fails at being a gargoyle though.

    Awww, hunting attire is cute!

    Some recent Sage spam.

Thanks to all of you who have this, I did end up getting him the Ruffwear harness and we all feel so much better hiking with this on. We did sustain a Seiji Surge (reactive episode) while wearing this and he did not escape. I liked that I can hold the handle on the back if needed, but mostly that he is safe, comfy and cant back out or hurt himself trying to.

This is Real Sage and his understudy, Paper Sage, who subbed in for him at Meetup. They are just about the same size.

The top of Sage's fuzzy head. He is eating a biscuit. I even love his paws.

Sage is happy in the backyard, hanging out after frisbee and digging and playing.

    Love that grin!

and finally...if this works, Brindle Films brings you Sage's first video:

Our town has a muster horn for the volunteer fire dept. Or perhaps it's the Great Wolf calling...

I love the Sage spam. I have a fire dep't almost one block away and Koda howls like that too when the sirens start. That's funny. Must bring up the call of the wild in them. OK, next Kai is going to be red brindle. I'm dying for a little Sage/Haru at home.

The Ruffwear harness is great. When Koda stops growing, we will invest in one. Does it get Sage hot at all or does he stay cool in it?

    Sage's bark rocks!!!
  • edited November -1
oh Sage is just adorable :)
  • edited November -1
Love the Ruffwear harness on him (aren't they neat?)

What a creepy, alien invasion alarm siren. No wonder he was howling-he thought it was the day the earth stood still or something :) Great pictures!

Your dogs are so beautiful! Sage's coat looks so soft, is he a cuddle bunny at all?
  • edited November -1
Hahaha, love Sage's howls, especially the little half-hearted one right at the very end. It seems like either "ha, I did my job and scared you off" or maybe a little disappointed "wait, where'd ya go?"
  • edited November -1
Racie- yes he is a snuggler, and I love that about him! Sage will lay down beside you or roll over for belly rubs, or cover you in kisses, or climb up on the chair with you and show his back or rump for a good rub. And he smells nice- I just rub my face in his thick mane sometimes and drink him in! Makes it all worthwhile, how much love and affection and jokes he gives back to us.

LOL Lindsay- alien invasion! I thought when they built the new fire station they might retire the muster horn, but nope, we get to listen to that still.

Tara- I suppose the black might get hot, but its not really a lot of coverage- think english saddle rather than western- and there's a round space in the middle by the handle so its not a big solid piece. I dont think it would add much heat, but it also comes in red, so if heat is a concern you dont have to get all black. Black looks quite cool. Jeff says Sage looks like he's in Special Ops with it on! :)

Hahahaha aw his cutey howl made me giggle! Does his wry bite cause any problems with how you feed him or is does it mostly just make him look even cuter?
