You can't see the details, but here is Kaiju during his shed right when he was transported to soCal. The little patches of fur on his rear leg shows how much he's already shedded.
My Lapphund used to shed like that every few years--she'd practically have bald patches over her knees when she was done, and looked very ragged and skinny (and grey instead of black because you could see through to her skin in some areas!)
So, although not an NK, I'd also agree that the shed is probably normal.
I first want to thank everyone for their input on TK's shed problems. His coat seems really harsh right now and he's still shedding badly, but I notice there is some new hair growth. It looks like he has dark hair coming in. I think his coat is just recovering from the condition it was in, but his skin looks normal again.

TK still needs to learn the art of sitting still for a picture, but he's getting there. London, on the other hand, is a pro.
