what would martha do? (stewart that is)

edited April 2008 in Products & DIY

i need project advice. i bought a swatch of fabric from a co-op at the university where I work. Its shiba fabric!! Its a 24 inch x 24 inch piece of fabric. Its pretty durable but i'd probably line it with denim or something strong. My goal is to make a toy with the fabric - or a couple toys.

Any suggestions?

I'm not creative at all but cute fabric.

Such pretty fabric. Seems kind of a shame to make a toy out of it. Could get wreck pretty quick, even with a tough lining. Plus it's a light color and would get dirty pretty quick. Do your dogs use pillows, to put their head on when they sleep?

Do you dress your dogs up? What about a cute little cap or baseball hat. OR a cover for a scrap book or photo album for the dogs?? I love that idea!  You could get pretty fancy with it, if you'd like, or just keep it nice and sleek with a photo of the babies on the front. When you go out with the dogs, do you carry a bunch of stuff? We always have water and doggie bags, keys, treats, long leash (we typically walk them on short leashes)....etc. You could make a little tote for all that stuff. Or a backpack for the dogs. Ugh....so much you can do!!!

i do not dress the dogs up.. yet. they rarely even wear their collars unless they are outside.

i don't have any pictures of the dogs handy - they are all digital.

maybe i'll do the tote bag. i'm not that savvy with the sewing machine yet! but its worth a shot.

Silly Rabbit, that is the pic I was trying to link to. Initially, I had it going to an orchid I was posting on Gardenweb.com. I think it's a cute little makeup/phone case that the shiba fabric can be used for. Should be easy to make, and I SUCK at sewing, But this is just a few straight edges. You could also make the case longer to fit makeup brushes.

PS. YAY, the site is back up, the site is back up. Laughing

HAH I thought you were trying to show the blue shiba fabric.

Gonna go caffeinate now, clearly I need it.

LMAO. I'm having my hit of caffeine now. YUMMY. I'm thinking about doing a 3 day juice cleanse, so I need to savor my caffeine.

I used to do a ten day one twice a year. Just green juice and water. It did amazing things for my body. Not so amazing things for my personality. I became satan basically.

LMAO. TEN DAYS!!! WOW. I'm nervous about doing it for just 3 days. I'm looking into the Blue Print Cleanse. Did you have any other reactions? Bad breath, Rashes, etc.

To the squeamish do not read this entry

Breath- Disgusting for the first 4 days

Skin-Nasty for 3 days, then CAME OFF (not kidding)

Poop- oh lord in heaven, every see Rosemary's Baby? of Alien?

A week after, skin glowing, body happy, all water weight back...

Wow! LMAO!!!! Did you lose weight other than the water weight?

Most times I would lose a few pounds. But I would always gain it back plus some, because fasting slows your metabolism.

Yea, that's what I thought...I just eat so much crap that I thought I would try. You don't even want to know. There are times when I eat donuts and cake for dinner. Not often, but it happens. A few weeks ago, when Kurt was in London, I ate Jalapeno Poppers for dinner....for a week!!! So bad. Now approaching 35, my body doesn't appreciate it as much....ok, it never did. But it actually shows now!!! I'm heavier than I've EVER been and I'm working to get all the inches off. I gained 3 inches in my belly!!! So now I'm a large size 2. Eek. I'm freakin' out!!!!!!!!!!!! I can only fit in 2 pairs of pants...which I had to buy to fit in. I was a 00 9 months ago!!!!

Ok, I'm ok. Just ranting and freaking. Sorry Tskuisune for hijacking your post. I really do love the fabric and you could do so much with it. Let us know what you choose.

haha i will sujewel! I'm leaning towards dogpark tote bag and using scraps for
a toy. i will post when completed (like a year, i'm awful with
    projects)..
  • edited November -1
LMAO. A year? I'm like that too. It takes me forever to start my projects. Once I start, I get it done quickly. I think the tote and toys is a great idea.

I vote for dog park tote bag......Laughing

    Barbara - A large size 2???? I don't think I've ever been a size 2 lmao.
  • edited November -1
Embarassed But I can't fit in most of my pants!!! Cry. Kurt's ready to cut my tape measure. I've been measuring and weighing myself everyday!! I know, I'm CRAZY. But I've never been this heavy. Cry
  • edited November -1
Lol go buy new pants woman! Remember, stress will help you gain more weight. Just relax, go shopping and enjoy :P
  • edited November -1
No buying pants for me. I just have to lose the weight, lol. I actually lose weight when stressed. I think it's because stress increases my heart rate and anxiety, I think all that blood pumping is confusing my body into thinking I'm working out. I'm not a stress eater. Thank GOD!!!

Hey Barbara, most women would beat you to death for being sad about being a size 2. You are a peanut. Step away from the scale, throw out your tape measure and take your dogs on a few longer walks.

I went from a 14 to a 6 just by walking my dogs more.
