Please stop giving Meitou foot injuries. Especially on the day right before I planned for a fun outing with him. I do not want this year to be the year of foot issues. It was not funny the first time, and it is not funny this time. So please stop.
Does this look like a giant monster eel to anyone else? Because it does to me.
I say some random stuff in this video. Mostly I was just talking because Meitou though the little boy you can hear in the video was really interesting and I was trying to keep his attention so he didn't scare the poor kid (pretty much the same size as Meitou, lol). I stopped recording when they came toward us so I could take a different path with Meitou.
Afterward we rested at home for a little over an hour and then headed off to his class. I didn't take any pictures after class. I wish I had been able to take some pictures/video during. I was giving Meitou some scritches before class (he's starting to shed so I was trying to get rid of some of the loose fur) and he started stretching out his back legs so far it was amazing he was still standing. It made everyone else laugh. And then he gave me a kiss while I was doing it, lol. And that made the others laugh more. He continues to do well in his class and still loves the trainer.
Dawwws I love the picture in your second post of him in the log! (3rd pic) I wish I hadn't derped and been unsure of which day we had been planning. At least now you know the good paths for when we meet up!
Where do you him enrolled and has he taken all of his classes there? I'm going to be getting Genko into training soon and could use a recommendation
@cezieg The class he is in right now is his reactivity class at Synergy Behavior Solutions and they deal exclusively (from my understanding) with reactivity (dog and human directed). For the puppy classes and basic obedience classes I took with Meitou when he was young (pre-reactivity) were at Dog Days NW in Vancouver. I don't know which places in Portland might be good.
Friday (8th) was a busy day for Meitou. And for me. We were wiped out.
First we went on a hike to Soda Peaks Lake! When I read the hike description online I saw that it said it was an "in and out" hike and that it was around 4 miles. I took that to mean two miles to the lake and two miles back. I suppose it could have been. I'm a horrible judge of distance. But it sure felt like it was 4 miles in and 4 miles back out.
Meitou pooped here. I had to go back to the car to get the poop bags, and when I got back...there was a pair of sneakers maybe two feet away from where Meitou pooped. For the life of me I don't remember them being there the first time, but no one else was around that my friend and I saw or heard, so......kind of freaky.
Still waiting. Meitou refused to get back in the car. I don't blame him. He threw up maybe ten or fifteen minutes before we got to the trailhead. I cleaned it up as best I could, but I don't blame him for wanting to stay outside to keep his poor tummy happy.
After waiting for a while my friend and I decided to head on up the trail...
Mount Adams
Meitou's been shedding, but during the hike was when he decided to loose full on fur puffs.
Mount Rainier
The Goat Rocks, I think...
Mount Adams
Meitou loved this lake. He went in several times.
This tree was hallow and looked like it had suffered a lot of fire damage at some point.
Cleaning mud off his toes
On the way back down from the high point we were finally able to meet up! Genko and Ren were all about cleaning up the chicken mess I made. Genko even laid all stretched out to get chicken.
Ren was adorable. And so fun to watch her run free. And she had a very nice natural space buffer around Meitou. He seemed very interested in watching her run. As for Genko, I thought it was adorable that she and Meitou would smell the same things, sometimes with their heads next together. And the Hokkaido kisses....cute!
Hot and tired
After we got home we rushed to the new novice tricks class I enrolled him in (after the trainers checked with his reactivity trainers to see if they thought he could handle it) and we made it on time! Wheew, I almost thought we weren't going to make it. Meitou was good in class and did the tricks, but he didn't have a lot of energy.
Once we were home for good...
My friend gave me copies of the pictures she took, so I'll have to go through them and see what gems might be found there.
And then there was today (9th).
Avery happened. Ignore the creepy monkey in yellow in the background.
My sister went and adopted a dog... So there has been a lot of expen-as-baby-gates, treats, separation, rotation, and keeping Meitou leashed to me. Not exactly how I was expecting to spend a large portion of my Saturday. I had to go out shopping for a few Mother's Day party items and when I came back I was told that somehow Meitou had gotten into the same area as Avery in the house. Avery was on the couch and so Meitou hoped right up (yeah, my dogs can't go on the couches, but Avery can because she's little) and started checking her out. I was told he did fine, until someone grabbed him to get him off the couch and he barked and growled at that person. But he did fine with Avery, though he was a bit rude/intense. And from what I was told they were also out in the backyard together? And Meitou followed Avery around and mostly just licked her in inappropriate places. Later that night we took them for a walk together (with space). Meitou was a little excited, but not too naughty.
Our weened fun was a family trip that started with a Sunday drive to...
Iron Horse State Park to hike through an old train tunnel that's around 2 miles or so long. Since we got there in the evening, probably around 6:30pm, we basically only did the tunnel. It was fun.
Does Meitou's face look like he is about to have fun? Or does he look more traumatized? lol
The quality of this shot is astounding.
The light you can see in this video? We thought that was the other end of the tunnel. Yeah. That was a group of hikers coming the opposite way.
The real light at the end of the tunnel.
A small waterfall once we escaped the darkness.
Meitou took a moment to eat more grass. This seems to be a recurring theme with him.
Avery did well, but had to be carried a few times. It got a little wet in the tunnel and we have learned she is not a fan of the thing called getting wet,
This became quite the feast.
Dinner for two?
The Haunted Choir joined us for the return trek through the tunnel (I would like to point out that I did not participate). I missed getting the maniacal laughing on video though.
Still daylight back at the beginning, barely. Some people were afraid the doors on this end would get closed on us before we got out.
We stayed at a hotel in Cle Elum where Meitou and Avery had to share a room because it was the only dog room we could get due to a mess up in the reservations. I was worried Meitou would find some excuse to be a jerk but they actually did really well together.
From our morning walk
Not too far from here we found a dead thing (it smelled like poop) but I think was maybe part of a big fish? I don't know, I'm not that great at identifying dead things. All I know is some of it was pink and a lot of it was black and it had no fur.
Meitou doing what he has taught Avery to do. Scratch after every potty.
So, recently Meitou and Avery have started playing together. Usually Avery starts it. It's pretty funny, she gets crazy eyes when she plays. Meitou grumbles and growls a lot. And tackles and puts his mouth all over poor Avery (and today he tried lying down on her), so we make sure they get a lot of breaks whenever Meitou starts getting too enthusiastic.
Avery is faster than Meitou (or he isn't trying his hardest, I don't know), but he is pretty clever about how to cut her off.
@Vulpesvulpes89 I agree. It is pretty cute. And incredibly funny sometimes, too.
Well, Avery is now confident enough to bite Meitou's face and legs and crawl over him while they play. She seems to be pretty good at adapting to other dogs' play styles.
Yes, there will probably be many Meitou eating grass photos. He does it all the time.
Meitou was always trying to get into the water. Even if it was steep. This spot looked safe but ended up being the kind of muddy that sucks you in and tries to steal your shoes.
Posing on some stairs
I love this dog. I love his face. I love his expression. I love his muddy toes. I love that he was good and stayed sitting AND looked at the camera.
Hurry up, Human.
Might dislike posing even more than Meitou.
We found a better water spot. Meitou loved it. Still won't swim, but he loves being in the water.
June 20th there was a sandcastle building contest at Cannon Beach, OR and I wanted to go see it, so Meitou got to go to the beach. There were so many people and so many dogs, but Meitou surprised me and did amazingly well. Meitou had fun, except for getting carsick.
Oh, I forgot to mention a couple things about our last beach excursion.
First: A lot of people asked if he was a Shiba (which makes sense) and they were politely in hearing that he was actually a Hokkaido and thought he was pretty neat. No one got to pet him, but there was one couple that he licked their hands. On our way back to our car we saw a couple with an actual Shiba. We nodded to each other and smiled as we passed. lol
Second: Apparently Meitou was a super celebrity. At one point I was standing with my mother and started moving around and my mother said "Someone is trying to get a picture of Meitou." I hadn't realized. But sure enough there was a woman there with a tablet taking pictures (or video? I don't know) of Meitou. And she was with a group of other people who were super interested in him. And later my father mentioned that he saw other people taking pictures of him, too. Huh. Who knew? Apparently I was super oblivious.
Here are some pictures and video from the 4th of July Hideaway that our trainers held so dogs wouldn't have to hear fireworks. Both Meitou and Avery went.
As soon as we got this bag of treats he started gently tapping it like he thought it was for a trick. So cute.
Meitou is not a fan of lying on comfortable beds. But he tried this one out. It took him a long time to figure it out. And it still wasn't all the way on it.
What a fun group they are.
The ones I stuck up on instagram
Okay, for the life of me I can't seem to get Flickr to cooperate to get the embed links for the videos like I used to so for now I'll just put in a regular link for people to click.

Thank you,
Disgruntled WhoBitMe
He is doing much better already. Still on house arrest but doing much better.
If his foot hadn't been hurt this is where he wouldn't have gotten to go: Tulip Festival! I went without him.
I took a ton of pictures, which I uploaded to Flickr. I really wish Meitou could have gone. I think he would have had fun.
Saturday morning, just chillin' on the deck.
Enjoying his special "It's Amy's Birthday Dinner." He only ate half of it. I let Amy finish it.
"Why does Amy get all the cake?"*
*This is PuppyCake, it was made for dogs
Meitou got to be Amy's cleanup crew.
This stayed on his face for a long time...

There is this site for lists of trainer by state/city: http://www.dog-training-spot.com/
And this facility on found via Google... http://www.happygoluckydog.com/
I can try asking my trainer if he has any good recommendations for training facilities if you'd like.
Hello, Mount Hood.
@cezieg Here is a video clip with Meitou doing that stretch thing.
First thought: He looks so cute!
Second thought: Wait...his eyes look weird... Is he possessed?
First we went on a hike to Soda Peaks Lake! When I read the hike description online I saw that it said it was an "in and out" hike and that it was around 4 miles. I took that to mean two miles to the lake and two miles back. I suppose it could have been. I'm a horrible judge of distance. But it sure felt like it was 4 miles in and 4 miles back out.
Waiting for @cezieg
We found a fire pit.
Meitou pooped here. I had to go back to the car to get the poop bags, and when I got back...there was a pair of sneakers maybe two feet away from where Meitou pooped. And some photos my friend took.
It amazes me that they all suck at looking toward the camera. They're all evil conspirators that refuse to let me get a good picture.

Meitou doing what he has taught Avery to do. Scratch after every potty.
We watched a train go by.
Metou's train watching face.
After leaving the hotel....we went to Leavenworth! We found a rock shop that let dogs with "safe tails" come in, lol. Meitou was not impressed.
Waiting outside a store
Giant Head, Tiny Head
Avery waiting desperately for my sister to come out of the store. Her favorite move is "the Prarie Dog."
They can't have toys together (Because Meitou) and we have to be careful with food/treats, but sharing water is no problem.
Relaxing in the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
Meitou found this horse to be very intriguing.
Pretty sure I took a picture of him on this log the last time we were here in almost the same exact pose.
Meitou wanted to go into ALL the water, and up to his armpits, too! He thought it was way too hot.
Meitou slept while we ate.
And before we headed home to stopped to see the cutest little train station ever.
Meitou actually did a good stay for this.
And something smelled good here. No idea what.
I laughed about "dogs with Safe Tails"
Avery is faster than Meitou (or he isn't trying his hardest, I don't know), but he is pretty clever about how to cut her off.
My 70 pounder's best friend weighs around 10 pounds at the most. It's adorable.
Well, Avery is now confident enough to bite Meitou's face and legs and crawl over him while they play. She seems to be pretty good at adapting to other dogs' play styles.
And Saturday naps after Meitou's vet visit...
Yes, there will probably be many Meitou eating grass photos. He does it all the time.

They are both being difficult posers
Doesn't like water at all
One tired tiny dog
Tavi is so sweet! And amazingly pretty.
And then @Crispy and @omgtain convinced me to let Meitou go free. Well, sort of. He dragged his leash. And...he actually did really well.
Is it just me or is Fionna making a hilarious face?
Even did fine with dogs on the other side of the fence
Meitou got in a lot of kisses with both Tavi and Fionna.
This is what happens if you lie down on the asphalt near Tavi: pinned!
Of course he turned his head away...
Sniffing Train
Meitou harassing Ren...
Ren thinks something is suspicious. Maybe me?
Before we left Meitou even gave @Crispy some kisses. And Meitou did not want to leave. He wanted to stay and play. He was having an awesome time.
We spotted an Avery mermaid
First: A lot of people asked if he was a Shiba (which makes sense) and they were politely in hearing that he was actually a Hokkaido and thought he was pretty neat.
