  • I picked up some glucosamine and started Toshi on it. Hopefully it will help. I'm going to start monitoring her weight too. She's not very overweight, but she is around 40lbs. Thank you everyone for suggestions and advice on this. I was worried I wo…
  • Could it have developed as she grew though? I mean 15 months in between is a big difference I would think.
  • @cdenney: I'll go by there tomorrow. My girlfriend just got a job there, so we get discounts now (yay!)
  • That's what I thought at first as well, but my girlfriend who's at home most of the time, swears that it's been happening. I never noticed it though before the vet. That's why it was brought up in the first place at the vet's office.
  • Also thank you to everyone here helping me figure this thing out. Hopefully I'll get this resolved without having to have major surgery performed on her.
  • That's not a bad idea with the stem cell therapy. I'll look into it.
  • If she doesn't yelp, then don't get the surgery?
  • @BradA1878: I completely understand, but after the vet pointed it out, I've noticed her favoring the knee after heavy playing which is what worries me. I'm still going to monitor her in the next few weeks, but how long should I wait before deciding …
  • Yeah I rushed her to the emergency vet because she had become lethargic and wouldn't eat. If I would have waiting until the morning, she wouldn't have made it. She doesn't do roll over anymore because of this lol. I'm still unsure on what to do thou…
  • She had an unrelated surgery. She had a torqued bowel and had to have emergency surgery on that.
  • The vet was able to slip it out at the office with what looked like relitive ease. Since then I've noticed it more often when she runs now. Sometimes she will favor her leg for five minutes then be fine after that. I'm afraid of the scenario that yo…
  • She's 17 months old now. The vet said it was in stage one and showed me what to look for and how to pop it back into place if need be, but apparently the surgery will need to get done eventually and even then, she will probably have arthritis.
  • Thank you! I can't believe she's a year old. I had a rough start with her because I never dealt with a kai before, but she's been one of the best things to happen to me. Her stripes are coming in nicely and she is very playful (Even after a trip to …
  • I try to keep her as active as possible. Even when I take her to the dog park for a couple of hours, she still has energy left lol. Even if I give her something before I go out, she still goes after what she shouldn't though. I crate her when I'm go…
  • Sorry for the delay, Toshi and I went to Texas this weekend. @Yandharr - She is five months next week. It may be that she's still a puppy, but she only does it when I'm not around. I started leaving a bag of pigs ears open so that if she wants to st…
  • Yeah I was playing with her before hand and I guess she had more energy than she let on. I guess a treat for going in and a treat for coming out in the morning should help. I feel bad for my neighbors though. They probably thought I was killing her.
  • Last night was pretty sad :( I introduced her to the wire kennel and she screamed bloody murder for 15 minutes before settling down and going to sleep. In the morning, I rewarded her with a treat when I opened the door to hopefully build some positi…
  • Yup just got back from taking her to the vet and she was in top condition! The vet never heard of the breed, so I sat and spoke with her about the origins of the Kai. Everything is set up for her next two appointments and I'll start her on heartworm…
