@jikjak (Terence) is in Richmond BC and can tell you how his Shikoku Ghost and his Shiba get along. His Shiba is older and seems to tolerate Ghost but I haven't seen them together except a year ago.... @Rikka - I'm in North Vancouver and my Kuma (G…

hey terence - works well; easy to use; lots of functionality that I haven't touched yet (some of which I don't really need as it is related to hunting - the astro tells you when your dog is pointing!). Only really used it once so far on a hike. we d…

Happy Birthday bro! :) @BradnJess I'll post some pics of Kuma later on (if it works from here). @jikjak and I'll add some of both Kuma and Ghost - they hung out about two weeks ago - so you can see the differences. Kuma looks very much like Argos an…

(oops double post - in slow wireless on vacation in Slocan...)

Got the Astro 320/DC 40 for Kuma before I left last week on a 3 week road trip into the Kootenays in southern BC. I hike with him off leash so wanted to have some extra assurance when I'm in grizz country and lotsa other wildlife in case he takes of…
-
@shishiinu - ya looks like a 220/DC 30/40 combos can be a bit less (some of those deals won't ship to Canada). I'll probably spring for the newest 320/DC40 combo I guess... You sold your combo?
-
@Edgewood - undoubtedly :) and likely because he is in the truck a couple times a day - usually more - so he is pretty used to it. Loves sitting in the front seat looking at every possible thing out there.
-
@jikjak @BradnJess - nope, Kuma does not have any rear dew claws - only front ones. @Wryly+Brindle - Ghost, Argos and Kuma are just over 8mo old
-
Kuma doesn't get carsick ever. Never has. We drive lots and I go to whistler often and fast (curvy road). He just sits there and sometimes sits sideways leaning into the seat for support. He's like a honey badger - he just don't give a f.......

the vids make me even more glad that I live in an area where Kuma gets to meet new dogs virtually every single day, sometimes many new dogs each day. He loves it and wants to meet EVERYONE.... hopefully he'll continue to like to be around other dogs…
-
@jijkjak - watch these vids. get some insight into the brothers' interactions vs each of their interactions with other dogs.... we need to vid Ghost and Kuma playing/disagreeing/whatevertheyaredoing and get some opinions

that story gave me the shivers - scary. Just out of town on our acreage near Kelowna many years ago, our family's Shiba (Shima) was lured out by one coyote towards a pack of 'em further off. We called her and got her to come back, but it certainly …

@Sangmort - I have that pic too! I was going to take one of those pups but it was too short notice for me. The big black and tan in that pic is now in West Van. He's a bit over a year old and 55lbs (and looks bigger!)
-
weighing in with Kuma currently at 4 months (17weeks) = 25.5lbs @jikjak @BradnJess - how much are Ghost and Argos now? I expect a bit more than Kuma as they were weighing more than him previously....
-
It will be interesting to see what the size range is in our litter of 5 brothers. The pups were all very close in size although @jikjak Ghost was the biggest. My Kuma is now 15 weeks and he is about 23lbs. Ghost and @BradnJess Argos are bigger. My u…
-
@Calia - yes-ish. that Fall 2010 litter was 5 pups, two of which were black and tan. and you are correct - there was A LOT of size variation in the puppies. The litter was 6 but one died. Seems like the sizes were widely skewed probably because of …

@BradnJess Great posts and pics and vids!!!! I'm so behind with getting my Kuma post/thread up, so third Kimi x Yamato pup is represented :)
-
all - Kuma (Kimi x Yamato - same litter as @jikjak Ghost and @BradnJess Argos) was about 16.5 at 3 months BUT he had roundworms for, I expect, a few weeks. He wasn't eating much. He bounced up to 21lbs by this week (He is now 3.5 months old). So he …

@CrimsonO2 I'll try to start a Kuma post soon to post some pics of the pup. Life as a single dad of Kuma has been pretty crazy so I really haven't had much extra time nor been on the forums much.

I clicked through the amazon link on the thyroid book and also saw this one - Buyer Beware by Susan Thixton on the pet food industry. Looks very interesting! Anyone read it? http://www.amazon.com/Buyer-Beware-crimes-truth-about/dp/1453855017/ref=pd…
-
@Calia - haha! ok, i just looked at my pics and they aren't stellar - the pup were not cooperating for pics and were moving around lots ;) but i'm happy to send you some if you want them.
-
Thanks for the tips! @Calia - looks like you have one of the black and tans from the Fall 2010 litters. Which one did you get - the smaller or larger of the two black and tans? I visited Katja at that time and have a bunch of pics, undoubtedly inc…

ok, set up a flickr acct, but i see i can't upload multiples at a time so may switch to photobucket... Anyway, here are some pics - mostly of my new pup Kuma, but I was holding up all the pups too for Katja so she could take more pics to send to peo…

Once I sort out the whole uploading pics to a third party site in order to post them here, I'll post some more pics of Kimi x Yamato pups - I went to pick my pup on Sunday just before Terence. Excited!
-
@BradnJess, @jikjak - I'm heading over to get my pup as well on the 16th as Katja said she was going to come down to meet someone who was arriving at the ferry terminal at 2pm (BradnJess?) - that way I don't need to take a vehicle cross. Would love…

She is gorgeous!! Love seeing a video of off-leash as well. I'm soooo looking forward to meeting my first Shikokus in person TOMORROW when I go drive up to visit Katja and all the dogs :)
