I thank everyone for their nice comments and support. I am not a frequent visitor to the forum so I apologize for not thinking more on a global scale. I would welcome ALL Shikoku owners to participate. That would be awesome to have as many owners …

I put Shuii through a couple levels of obedience and agility classes. Although we didn't compete, Shuii really loved it. It really helps an owner to bond with their dog. Working through this type of training builds trust and respect.

I received info from Kai Ken Preservation Society in Japan regarding the tan/blonde colored Kai Ken. This color is not accepted in their standard nor do they do not use pale colored dogs in show or breeding. Other standards (UKC, FCI, ARBA) state …

Happy New Year to all. We went for a hike with the pups this morning. Bob took a photo of us in the snowstorm which I thought looks really cool cuz the snowflakes appear as orbs of light. It was snowing pretty good and the wind is howling. Even so…

The Shikoku in my photos are Maya (little one)and Suki(the larger). These two haven't been allowed to attack prey. I make them "leave it". My Kai has caught squirrel, but will release on command. I have a Shikoku female, Sweety, don't …

I take my Shikoku out "hunting" which consists of tracking and flushing game. I really enjoy watching them do their thing. Usually they flush out turkey and grouse. Love to chase those chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits! They have run ac…

Thanks for everyone's support! It was originally my intention to create a club that is open to anyone who is interested in the protection and preservation of the Shikoku dog (ownership of the breed is not required). Also because of the breed's UK…
