So sorry for your loss. Warm wishes to your family and the rest of the pups. She was lucky to have you for her humom.

@tjbart17 glad Koda put that lil monster in her place :) hopefully this keeps up!

@tmd we are and have been working with a behaviorist. I actually had to revert to small leash corrections and then treating after she calms down and we are making improvement, its just a long and exhausting process
-
thanks @tmd we tried doing sit or down and treating (we were like freaking pez dispensers) for looking at us to no avail for about 6-8 months . As soon as the dog gets close or looks at her (it can be at a distance as far as across a 3 lane street)…

Good luck you 3! Kaiya guards me from dogs too when shes on leash and I havent been able to find a way that I am overly comfortable with to correct it. I am doing small leash corrections, but her reaction is extreme too. Let me know how it goes. …

hmm...if the family in CO doesn't work out, I've been thinking about adding another Kai. If someone can coach me on adding a dog to our previously only one dog situation (shes a bit territorial and protective of her humom from other dogs), I would …

I learned early, they wont starve themselves. I also learned not to give in. Kaiya is fed RAW and we offer a variety of meats at all times (she'll get salmon, lamb, chicken and beef on a meal by meal rotation) if she refuses breakfast, I pick it u…

oh my goodness there was a Kai 30 miles from me this whole time! Wish I could take on another dog at this point, but its just not feasible right now.

When after 5-10 minutes of sniffing, circling, sniffing some more, pacing the same area what seems like at least 10 times, and faking it at least 4 times, your dog finally finds the "perfect" spot and poops. or still doesn't poop.

Got the full analysis today. I asked for a T3 and t$ and Free T4, but looks like I didnt get the T3 (unless it is officially called something else. T4 1.3 (0.8-3.5) Free T4 (dialysis) 20 (8-40)

All thank you for all the valuable information. The base line that I was given was 0.8-4.5 and she was a 1.4. Kaiya is on a raw diet with occasional grain free kibble (roughly once a week). While this is the first T4 that has been done (as far as…

Preliminary results came in earlier this week and her Thyroid (t4) was at 1.4, which according to the vet is nothing to be concerned about, however, in some research I was doing, with her age, her number should be higher...the complete results shoul…

I got Kaiya at about 4.5 months and she weighs within 2-4 pounds of that weight (she was 26 pounds or so) at her current 2.5 years. She is between 28-30 pounds and has been since probably 6 months. I think she grew pretty quickly though.

I would love to add another Kai to my home. If I can get kaiya's health settled it'd be something to consider. She may do better with a pup though.
-
Well blood and urine samples were drawn today. Hopefully we'll have some answers in the early part of next week.

Poor little guy! So sorry you and Kilbun had to experience this.
-
Ill keep you all posted. Thanks for the info on your testing @brada1878. Thats really helpful to be able to tell the vet too. I am hoping that its not thyroid, but at the same time, it would be nice to have something physical to treat. Otherwise,…

I guess I should rephrase the diarrhea part. Its been explosive lasting more than one movement 4x in 3.5 months. Prior to this, she had this type of diarrhea only 3 times in the last 2 plus years and they were associated with a parasite which has…

I was pretty good about Kaiyas teeth until about a month ago. She will (grudgingly) let me brush for about a minute. I was doing 3x a week and will be returning to that now that the craziness is over. Because of her heart condition, my vet said sh…

Thanks! I dont know how you guys did that move with all the dogs AND a toddler! Im going crazy trying to be organized enough to just get myself and one dog moved!

We will be driving. It should only be a one day affair to get out of the condo and all our things into the new place. Its about 2 hours away. I get the Keys on a Monday and will take Kaiya with me while I clean and line cabinets that day and then…

Thanks for all the tips. I really like the idea of leaving a shirt with her in her crate that smells like me. She does have separation anxiety and she doesnt like to be left in new places, so Im hoping to get settled quickly and be able to warm her…
