So I have a happy story. Well, happy to me story anyway. Yesterday was a holiday (Happy Be-lated Veterans Day to any vets out there!), so I was off from work. Nola has been having some socialization issues (as in loses her mind with excitement anytime she meets someone/thing new), so I took her to the park alone to work on her meet and greets. Well, lo and behold when we got there, there was a group of stray kittens and their mum in the parking lot. (They live at the park and are fed by a few good samaritans.) I picked Nola up, in order to minimize the stress to the poor kittens. After I picked her up, the mummy kitty came up to me and started sniffing my pants. Nola had calmed down and I squatted down with Nola in my arms and let the cat sniff her. Nola just laid there, without moving while each one of the kittens came up and smelled her! After a minute, I let her down, and she just sat as polite as can be, until one of the braver kittens came up to her. She play-bowed and the kitten sort of play-bowed back and they ran around for a moment. At that point a woman came up with her little boy and Nola lost her mind... And the kittens ran for cover under my car.
I know it may not seem like a lot, but it was just amazing to see how calm she was with the kittens! Usually she wants to run up to a cat and chase it! She did so well! If only she would do that well with other dogs!
Yay Nola! ... Osy, I think you did just fine with your pics! You sure got a smile from me ... Pam, I can't wait to adopt a puppy so I can order some stuff - as soon as Ryu gets you those design ideas anyway!
