So... we are all moved in, sort of. All our stuff is at the new house, but it is in total disarry. As you can imagine, the Shibas are not happy about that! They seem to be enjoying their fenced-in yard, although it is slightly smaller than their old yard. Once things calm down a bit, I will take some pictures for you guys.
Last night was our first night in the new house, and what a night it was! Bella is not handling the move well. She does not like when things are out of place, and boy... things are definitely out of place. I am hoping she warms up a bit to the mess while I am at work, but I guess I will see in a few minutes when I go home for lunch. Nola seems to be taking things in stride. She got a little sick last night, so I am keeping a close eye on her, but I think it was stress mixed with tons of treats. Hopefully tonight will go much smoother.
Awww. When we moved into our new house it took Miso about a week of bad poos and tummy upsets before he calmed down. He is a high stress guy too. Sake was fine of course, she is very laid back. Once everything gets into place Im sure it will be better.
Well, when I went home for lunch, the girls seemed a bit better. Bella is still a little apprehensive about all the stuff that is sitting out. Which, I can not blame her for that, and will remedy the situation as fast as my organizational skills will allow. Nola was doing better. I had her crated while I was out of the house for her safety (there are lots of nice things to chew on around the house now), and she was very happy to see me! They both had a romp around the backyard and both pottied (YAY!). And they both came back into the house on their own (which is an improvement from last night). So things are progressing.
Anyone want to come to VA, wave a magic wand, and put all my stuff away??? There will be love and kisses from two silly Shibas for payment! :-P
Well, things have been pretty crazy around here. Between bike races for me and hikes/runs for the pups it has been a busy couple of months. Not to mention staying busy helps keep the stress away!
Here is a summary of things so far:
I guess it has been 6 or 7 weeks ago, Nola had a run in with a hornet. Her and Bella were both outside and I was in my office grabbing something. I had been gone from the backyard maybe a minute, when I looked out the window and saw Nola lying on the ground. Bella was just standing across the yard looking at her. I ran out, and she was just shaking, unable to move. I grabbed her up and took her into the living room and placed her on the table. She was still shaking and not able to move. I rubbed all over her trying to figure out what was wrong... I could not really see or feel much of anything. Although I did notice that her hip seemed to be slightly swollen. Well, I carried her to the car and rushed her to the Emergency Vet (this was at like 8:00 in the evening). Turns out that she was stung by a hornet. And not just any hornet, a HUGE hornet. The stinger that the vet pulled out was over an inch long. She got a shot and some nice cortisone creme to take home. It took her almost 3 weeks before she would put her full weight on that leg. But she is doing just fine now.
Bella has become quite the accomplished fly catcher. She is quick and deadly. And she got stung by a wasp a week ago. Poor thing has a nice bald spot on her leg from where she has been licking it... But after a few days of me telling her to stop, she has finally quit licking at it.
Nola has also become quite a deadly force of nature. A few weeks ago, she killed two mockingbirds in one day. And she has also caught a couple of mice... not quite sure where they came from.
And both of them have really enjoyed the sport of lightening bug catching. It is quite fun to watch, but I have not been able to get a good video of it... too dark, apparently!
But other than our run-ins with stinging insects, it has been a fun summer so far. The pups have adjusted to their new home fairly quickly. They enjoy the neighborhood kids (as in they LOVE to bark at them as they run uninvited through our side yard). They also enjoy their new neighborhood walks. Which happens to go by two churches and an elementary school... Bella loves to leave her mark in all three places. One of the churches is quite beautiful... and if I think about it, I will have to take my camera on one of our walks next week to take some pictures.
And speaking of pictures... what everyone has been waiting for:
Nola doing what she does best... gnawing on a stick:
Bella doing what she does best... guarding the yard:
Eyes wide shut:
This is what Nola does when she comes in from outside... Plops down by the air vent:
This series proves that Nola is not evil... lol. This one is my favourite: Or maybe this one is:
Bella gets in the game:
Bella was actually staring at a bug... about to pounce, but she looks so serene:

Nola, looking for snacks at 'grandma's':
I was SO pleased that I was able to get a good picture of the two of them: Somehow, I doubt that will ever happen again!
Sorry about the long post... but it has been a while! :-D
No apoligies needed. We're sorry to hear about their stinger run ins. Stoopid Insects. Some great pics like always, especially the action shots. The last picture is beyond awesome, great work.
A little video on a Saturday morning. Please excuse my inability to focus... This was one of my first attempts at video on my D90. I think I need a camera crew for this thing!
Thanks for the awesome vid of your girls. They're so funny when they play together. I love the part at around 2:17m Nola is running, does a roll, and pops back up at full speed. Too funny!

Sorry to hear about all the stings! Sounds like a huge pain. Poor pups.
Your pups are the cutest, And I hope to meet them again someday.
The gals look great though - great action shots!
And the action photos are awesome!
Nola's front legs look like they were dipped in white paint - I love it!
You know I love looking at pictures of the forum pups, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE videos of them!
