    Thanks guys!

It was fun going through all of the stuff we have of them. There were things I didn't remember very well, and they were a nice surprise to see again.

The kids had a birthday baked sweet potato breakfast, with tuna. They went crazy over it :-)
Unfortunately, we didn't go out on much of a morning walk, because less that half way through it we were hit by hail. That ended up the walk pretty fast :-P

Hail? Yikes. Is that normal for Lisbon?
  • edited November -1
yeah, kind of. We are to close to sea level and too far south to have snow, so when it gets really cold and it rains, we get hail. Every thing seem to have been salted. When it is heavy, it can form little piles on cars and all. Sometimes the bits of hail get big, but today they weren't very big. They still hurt a bit.

I have only been outside once in hail. No thanks!

Happy Birthday To both of YOU

    Hi guys!
We're up north in the city of Oporto... where Port wine's made.
It's raining and yucky outside but we're excited about the (dog) shows tomorrow and Sunday.
Kuma's breeder has just come to say hello and see Kuma again. He was elated to see her, though I doubt he remembers her.
We have to get up super-early tomorrow, so i'm off to get some shut eye!

We're back from the first show. It's 6pm and we've been up since 6am, I'm a bit tired and so is Kuma. He dropped to the floor pretty much as soon as we got here.
Today he was shown by a friend of Silvia's on the first go and he got an Excelent and best Junior Akita (he was the only Junior, but that means nothiing. He was the only Akita last time and he didn't qualify), which took him to Junior Male final with the male juniors form all the breeds. There he didn't get chosen for the final.
He did so well!!!! He's been improving at every show we go to and that's great! He's getting more comfortable at these things. Tomorrow we have another one and a 300km drive home, so I guess we'll be pretty tired by the time we get home.
After a day like this he still loves everyone that stops to look at him. He's just a great dog! Silvia was really amazed at his temperament, always playful and very sociable. That "toeing out" he has, that the last judge commented on, is his only "fault", she says.

I won't give you any spam now cause the hotel wireless is kind of slow to upload, but I took 550 photos today, so expect spam tomorrow or Monday.

Great shots! So glad to hear that he (& you guys) did so well.
  • edited November -1
    WOW Rui! He looks awesome!!!!!

His head is really filling in huh? The first set of shots with him and Roberto look great. He looks very fluid and relaxed. It really looks like he's enjoying himself!
  • edited November -1
He looks great, Seems like you have a great support group there, Silva and Roberto.
  • edited November -1
It looks like he did awesome - he looks comfortable with different handlers, too.

The bearded collie in front of him in the Jr's is pretty cool looking!

What does it mean to be "toeing out"?
  • edited November -1
Wow. He did so well!!! And of course, he looks beautiful.
  • edited November -1
Congrats to Kuma on his big day.
  • edited November -1
Great pictures! I will second (or third, or whatever) what everyone else said... He definitely looks comfortable with different handlers, and he is a gorgeous dog! Keep up the great work!
  • edited November -1
Rui, the pics are GREAT! Kuma looks amazing in these!

So did you learn a lot from Silvia and all? I'm really envious you got to meet with them.

I recognize Roberto from early pics of Hilo, I hope he is doing well.

PS: You clean up nice! lol

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I skipped over this somehow. Sorry Kuma! Wow, he looks stunning in those photos. Great work and congrats to you both. He looks so squeezable/cuddly when he gives kisses out like that.
