Poor Kuma. Is Nyx licking his face (his eyes)? He is gorgeous.

    Thanks guys!

Lindsay - Nop, if anything Nyx would bite his eyes ;-P He's the kissing one, not her.

Loenberger I think the judge means Kumas shoulders need to close (lie flat). As puppies they are loose and it take some growth maturity to get the full structure to come together.
Many puppies toe out a bit in front or paddle when moving when the shoulders close that often times goes away as everything aligns. Most judges will give it the benefit of the doubt until maturity.

On Wednesday, since it was the last day of the year and we only worked the morning and there wasn't anything much to do, I took Kuma with me to work. He had a blast, with everyone playing with him and having loads of space to run around.

    Some photos:

This guy was having a cheese sandwich, so Kuma was totally focused on him :-)

I love the focus on the guy with the cheese sandwich. Dogs are so predictable and basic sometimes.

Wow, that's a nice office, what kind of work do you do? Kuma looks like a top executive making sure that everyone is doing their job of giving lovins

Brandon - It was hilarious, he went like that to everyone when we were having breakfast. No surprise there for me, who get the same treatment everyday, but they were going crazy with him.

Beth - We are a post production facility, mainly for advertising.

How fun - I wish I could bring Jazz in to work with me, but I probably would get zero work done!

That's the reason I only took him on Wednesday. There was almost nothing to do.

Great pictures! He's so adorable. I'm sure he was a hit. HEY! Where's Nyx. No field trip for Nyx???? LOL.

Well, Nyx hates being in the car. She goes crazy even when we go to the vet, and that's only a 5 minute drive.

    But here's Nyx

Kuma started doing this cute head tilt when I ask him "Shall we go out?". It never fails.

LOVE the head tilt! So cute. And Nyx is such a lovely little lady!

Rui --- I love it! Dogs at work! Everyday my husband, Steve drives me to work, and Josephine gets to come along for a ride. About twice a week Steve suggests I bring Josephine up the office... No work would get done, I'm sure! Thanks for sharing the day at the office, and I have to say Kuma and Nyx get more beautiful with each time you post their pics!

awesome thread! i want an akita too! is your akita full size already?
  • edited November -1
Not yet, he's only 11 month old (will be 1 year old on the 20th), so I guess there will still be 5/6 months of growing. He's currently around 31Kg (around 70lbs). I haven't measured hi min a while, but the last time I did he was around 63/64cm to the withers, so already at the bottom of the standard for an adult. I suppose he'll reach the 67cm to the withers that is standard but not pass that (I'd like him to get to the maximum limit of 70) and I don't think he'll get much heavier than 35/38 Kg.

I think I'll set up a poll with a range of possible sizes for Kuma, anyone want to bet on it? heheheh

You do have a great office man! With all the hours you spend there that's cool they made it so accommodating. And Kuma looks right at home there! I'm glad you finally got to take him in and that he had such a good time.

Hey Rui. Sorry I missed your response about Nyx. Thanx for the pix of her. She's such a cutie. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the video of Kuma.

WOW - I am super late to all this. I missed a lot! I'll start at the top...

1 - You should be really proud of Kuma for doing so well at the show, he showed HUGE improvement! I'm impressed. That is great you have a family member who can handle him for you - and has loads of experience.

2 - Your office is really nice, I don't feel so bad for you now as I know you spend most of your time there. lol I really like the pic of Kuma in front of the painting, I dunno why. Great pics! [good socialization for Kuma too]

3 - Nyx is very cute - she has really matured.

4 - The "head tilt" is GREAT! I wish we could get our pups to do that on cue like that. Great spam!

    Hi Brad!
I was really proud of Kuma too that day. Have to admit I got teary-eyed as my cousin was showing him!
Nyx has become quite a 'lady' she has filled out and she's the cuddliest cat ever! She's even taken to having naps on my chest as I type on my laptop - exactly like she did when she could fit on my hand! Of course, now she must be pushing on 4kg... which is a bt of weight on anyone's chest! But, it still makes my day - just like Kuma's loud burping or early morning licks.
    I feel blessed.
