    Well done, Kuma.

Even Showing is tough, I never realized, coming from a working dog environment, how hard it can be...I mean the dog has to stand still. It's a lot of patience and self-control on the dog's part.

    Good job Kuma-kins!

that is awesome Rui! Keep us updated on his showing progress!

How is his fungus? Hopefully healed! Do they deduct for things like that?

Wow Kuma is all grown up. I was going through your YouTube clips the other night and dang it seems like yesterday when you brought him home.

Good job Kuma! He is so adorable!

Those pictures of Nyx and Kuma playing from early November are awesome.

Good luck with Kuma's future showings.

    Thanks everyone!

Rachael - I think "not enough" is the right answer to that question :-)

Jen - It's all patched up now. There's a difference in the length of the hair, but it isn't very visible. Yes, I wouldn't even have taken him if it was still showing.

Rina - I know what you mean! It seems yesterday we were mopping every 5 minutes, lol

Brandon - Thanks! It's a completely different thing with the proper tool.

Is Kuma getting darker? I swear his color is WAAAY orangy/red than it was before. NYX. Yay!
  • edited November -1
lol, pretty kitty.....Kuma's cute too :)
  • edited November -1
He has gotten so big. He was always handsome but even more so.
  • edited November -1
He looks great! I agree, his color does look darker. He is really a good looking Akita, I love the last pic of him.

He's so handsome! He looks like he's more "furrier" now. Is that his winter coat? ~

    Thanks guys!

Yes, I think he's getting a bit darker, I think that's normal and he was a bit on the lighter (maybe a bit too much) side. Having said that, I'd say his real colour is something in between the photo where he has the ball(too light) and the others (too dark).

Osy - Yeah, it should be. He was shedding a bit more than usual a few weeks ago. I must have furminated the equivalent of two or three Nyxs out of him. But I think Akitas she more that the other Nihon ken. I never noticed a "massive" blowing of coat like I read from Shiba. It's kind of a constant thing that gets heavier two times a year.

Hi guys, just wanted to say that I'm back with my own laptop again - an Eee PC 1000h - so in theory I should be online more.

    Welcome back Natasha!

Nice shots Rui. You and Natasha have lovely animals.

    Rui,
Kuma is GORGEOUS, I love his color. He is a beautiful Akita. And Nyx is so cute too.. :) I love honarary Nihon Ken Kitties!
  • edited November -1
Congrats on the new laptop Nat!

Rui: Have you been walking Kuma and Nyx together at all? Have you made any progress teaching Nyx to ride on his back?
  • edited November -1
I agree, our Akita shed a little year round... but they do blow their coat, and trust me, you will know it when he starts.

Brad - I think we already went through it, I think. There was a time when he was definitely shedding more. Two furmination sessions on two consecutive weekends took two piles of fur that were roughly 2 to 3 times the size of Nyx!! I think that might have done something for a less impressive blowing.

Dave - Nyx still finds the outside world undeserving of her. As for riding his back, she would rather eat it ;-P and then run.

Have to agree with Rui on the 'Nyx on Kuma's back' trick!
They do play and chase each other around though, without our help!
On another note, we've just put our Xmas tree up. We taped it to the floor and didn't put any deocration on the bottom bits... let's see if it holds!
  • edited November -1
Should we start a pool about how long it will last? I vote 3 days. ;-)
  • edited November -1
    36 hours! :P
  • edited November -1
Please post pictures of the Christmas tree taped to the floor.

As from today, I shall change Kuma's name to Butthead. He headbutted me as I was taking off my shoes when we got back home an hour ago.
I was already in pain because for some reason my nose is slightly swollen and hurts a bit so now I got knocked in the head by what felt like a hammer!!!
  • edited November -1
Which will provide Kuma's superhero secret identity: Hammerhead!
  • edited November -1
Hahahaa. You guys are too funny. Silly Kuma...he was just trying to distract you from the pain on your nose. ;-)
