Lab? That's a new one. I've gotten husky, basenji, spitz, and a bunch of others that I can't remember. But lab? Unbelievable.

It reminds me of when I was a little kid and used to think that every butterfly was a monarch. My sister still gives me shit about it 18 years later.

Wait til Kuma gets older and idiots start asking he's a wolf. Have people ever seen a wolf? Jeez. Husky is the most popular guess with Mika and Keigo.

Those videos are so cute... it looks like they are learning to play! So CUTE!!!

    Kuma is getting big!

    ----

A Lab? Was that blind person? We get husky / Malamute all the time for Hilo and the Shikas.

Lab? Clearly that person is just stupid.

Speaking about how they are learning to play and playing nicely, I just had a slugfest ON me! I had Kuma on me, as I showed in one of the past photos, and Nyx came they started playing, next thing I know she was on her back, grabbing his neck with her mouth and arms, and kicking him in the face with her legs. And he was mouthing her belly. All of that on top of my belly! Crazy kids...

Ah, the Lab thing. It was last week, when I was still home. I took Kuma out after lunch, and it started to drizzle a bit.Thre were these two women at the door of the building right besides mine and one of them started telling the other how "the  dog won't want to go out in the rain". Kuma starts walking after a moment of hesitation and she startes talking to me saying the rain thing again. Of course Kuma just went up to her to get some attention. While she was petting him, she says that her dog never wants to go out in the rain and that dogs generally don't like it and all these facts about dogs. And I was there, already finding the situation funny, until she drops the Lab question. I made some effort not to laugh out loud, just said no and that he is an Akita, and she didn't even flinch. She went "Ah, right..." So a true connaisseur, the dangerous kind.

The husky thing was an older lady with her granddaughter, telling the girl "look a dog just like Nikita" and then she tells me "my daughter has one just like that, the same colour and all. But her eyes are blue"Tongue out

Oh my, he is adorable! Thanks for the spam, it's most excellent. Especially the photos and the vids with the kit. Looks like you don't have to worry about the Akita x cat mix. They will be just fine -smiles-.

    Congrats!

I'm surprised they went with Husky and not Malamute, lol.

    Thanks Corina!

So, it seems that the furry ones around here like to get together to have a nap...

Hehe. All three of them ;-)
  • edited November -1
Hehe, nop. Only the two of them were napping, I was watching The Matrix...Tongue out
  • edited November -1
I was referring to the furriness not the napping. Wink

    That is precious.

Funny that the "dog" person is snuggled with the kitten in that picture.

  • edited November -1
Yeah, I have to change that to "dog and Nyx" person.Wink It' hard to snuggle with Kuma, cause he might pee on the sofa and he's not big enough to go down on his own. But he snuggles on me a lot.

We took the kids to the vet today. They both got their Frontline, Nyx got another round of vaccines and we found out she has ear mites, poor thing Frown. They both got weighed, Nyx is now 1,1Kg and Kuma is 10,25Kg. That's a 1,35Kg weight gain in a week!

Then we came home, and my Dad helped me put Kuma's pen together. It looks like this:

Kuma got the green eyesTongue out

That's a great looking pen. I'm sure he's going to love it in there. And, he's quite the butch little man. He's gonna be a stud when he grows up!

    Very Nice pen!!

Dave, you never know. All the vets we went to said Mika was going to be very stocky. Alas, no, she's a skinny mini Frown. Darn dog won't eat much. I know, I'm crazy, I like hefty dogs. I was hoping she'd be closer to 90lbs, but she hovers in the 80-85lb range. I created a begger out of Keigo, feeing him scraps. I was hoping to get him to 120, but he's always about 109lbs. Frown

That pen looks great! Did you wrap the linoleum under the wood floor? <- Nice touch! Works well huh?

Kuma looks great man, he is so handsome and appears to have a really nice stance!

(ps: This is the first thread to reach 3 pages)

  • edited November -1

Thanks! Yep.  did wrap the linoleum under the floor, and nailed it with tacks used for upholstery. Then covered the tacks with this adhesive spongy tape, not to scratch the floor.

Kuma is getting very good looking, I have to agree on that, hehehe. And a bit crazy, too, LOL! Yesterday he was going 500's on us. It would be very cute, if it wasn't for the fact that we have neighbours on the apartment below us and our next door neighbour was home too. But it was funny! A bit before that, we were talking, me and Kuma Tongue out next time it happens I have to video it.

(about the length of the thread, is it a problem to load for anyone? If so, I'll start a new one)

  • edited November -1
no, no problem at all... just a benchmark I felt was worth mentioning.  :c)

Kuma went to the vet again today (Saturday seems to be vet day lately). Took him there to make sure he had no kidney/urinary tract problem and because he kept scratching himself, after the Frontline last week. She took some blood to do tests for his kidneys, everything is ok. He's now 11Kg, so a 750g increase this week.

Turns out, it seems his itching is Kuma shedding hi coat. He's leaving hair everywhere! I brushed him and got massive amounts of hair. After that he stoped scratching so much. Also, the vet suspects he's starting to change his teeth. At 3 months it's quite early, a month ahead of schedule. She didn't say she's sure. Because of his adventures in the litterbox, Kuma threw up this morning as soon as we got outside for his morning walk, but he's fine and lively so it shouldn't be anything to worry too uch. As usual, watching him for changes is the rule.

Again about his teeth, I don't know if he's starting the change or not, but I do know I gave him a 250g/27cm raw hide bone last Sunday and now it's less than half that size. He goes through his rawhides in a flash.

Next Saturday, last vaccines (along with Joey, thousands of miles away) and deworming. The vet agrees that come May 1st we can have our first "free" walk. I can't wait.

I'm glad to hear everything is ok! He's getting huge!
  • edited November -1

yea, glad he is ok, and it sounds like he is growing at a healthy rate!

When Akita blow their coats it's pretty hectic! Good luck! Smile

BTW my girls LOVE the litter box and think it is their own candy land.  If we have the door cracked for the cat they wont go in (they are scared to push doors open) but it is important for US to remember to close the door some.  We cant have a cover for it because our kitty has potty problems.

So glad Kuma is doing well!!

OK! Here's a bit of Kuma spam. This is just a bit of fun I had this evening, made from videos taken this week. It's kind of silly, but I hope you like it...
