And hahahaha that's a funny analogy @WrylyBrindle, but as all of yours are, VERY accurate and easy and fun to visualize haha, i will give her countless pats and smooches! Do the same for our Matsu man!
@Hinata23, she really is...altogether I like to think of her as sleek and agile, etc..Kimber is my little derpy love bug who just always seems to be on her own wavelength BUT, I've been watching her run, and she's learning to take some sharp turns finally and learning how to fake-out Kona, so she's getting sharper! It's like the big-little sibling relationship where you learn how to get tough and survive the older sibling lol..
Haven't given any update on Kona in a while, so here it is.
Kona's been doing really well recently...im really happy about the adult she's becoming...kinda hard to believe they're going to be 2 in September It's been interesting to see the differences between her and Kimber as they get older...mostly Kona is just so much more alert about her surroundings, more intense with every emotion, and more in tune with ME and my actions and emotions. She really is a great companion overall (though little dogs specifically in our complex are a no-go with her. and i'm ok with that, we just work to sit and let them pass by)
I try and get them out doing zoomies once a day with a couple of walks/hikes in addition to that, so all the upcoming pics are from one of the trails we frequent (that rarely has people on it...a rare thing for So Cal). I'd like to get her back into agility since I still have 5 classes paid for, so I may do a joint thing with her and Kimber (or maybe just rent out the gym for an hour so i can use the equipment). I do want to try lure coursing, esp since @zandrame knows of some good places and looks like fun!
Kona is a touch under 17" tall, and weighs in the low 20's.
Thank you @WrylyBrindle !! I try with the time I have to get them out and get them tired...so we make do with what we have!
And they are petite lol!! @Hinata23, you would laugh at how small they feel if you picked them up! :P
@zandrame that would be cool!! And I still gotta check with my mom about that date...she'll only be here a couple days, so I want to make sure we do what she wants...worst case scenario we do the next one!
Kona is stunning. Love the "you can't catch me with stick" pictures. So cute. And reminds me of when Meitou tries to get Amy to play. He'll grab a toy and do something similar.
I leave baton rouge on June 6th, so sometime the next week (assuming I can upload pics... I couldn't get them to load last time I tried) I will have some pics of big sis up for Kona (and you) to check out
Kona looks great Michelle! Her and Orry definitely share some similar traits. I see a lot of Orry in these newer pics of Kona, especially up around the eyes. Sounds like they still have a lot in common personality wise too (good and bad, haha!).
Thanks @MontanaKai! I think a lot of the pups (if not all the ones) from this litter share strong facial traits because of Nio. And I like it. They look kinda badass to me And their body structure too...really strong and muscular
Kona and Kimber tried some lure coursing with @zandrame yesterday with Luratics...the event was in Ocean Beach!! I didn't expect it to be AS big of a hit as it was, I expected Kona to enjoy it, but not to get crazed about it...while we were waiting for the first run, she didn't seem to get what all the fuss was about. She seemed intrigued everytime the lure would go by, but never crazy about it. Well, that all changed after her first run! She took her turns pretty quick (and even quicker on her 2nd run) and was her typical speed-demon self! While waiting for her second run, she made some interesting noises...definitely something we will continue to do, and thank you @zandrame for taking the videos!! I wish the pictures on the course came out better, but I tried to sit far away as to not be a distraction (took all the pics the first run)...i could've realistically stood right up on the fence, but oh well. Next time.
ETA: A woman walked up to Nate in line, and i saw them talking from afar, he pointed to us as well and I waved. Turns out, she was active on this forum a bit ago (she says she thinks her handle was eskimo?)! She walked up and asked Nate if Kona was a Kai, and they began talking...he said she wanted to meet kimber too, so i walked over there with her and they said hi. She apparently liked Kona's personality more, to which I said "oh, so you like em FEISTY!" She has the sweetest ridgeback who was racing as well, named Breeze. Kimber thought he was alright
Here's some shots of Kona and some with her and Kimby before their first run, and Mr. Kouda!!:
Kai BUTTS! :P
Kona waiting in line, she's almost up!
And off she goes!
Kouda says "I WANNA GO TOOOO!!"
Almost GOT it!
Shoot, not quite..
Still gonna GET it
Here's a video of Kona's first run...almost wriggled her way out of nate's arms
And a video of her waiting impatiently for her second!

Pics! Sorry for the blurry action shots - I need more practice!
