Train him to sit and lay down and come as early as possible. Once they get past say approximately a year old and you don't have these commands mastered. It will be very hard to get a good recall. With Akita it is hard to get a reliable recall anyway…

I used a wooden spoon and peanut butter to teach my Shiba to walk on a leash. Also I let him run the house with the leash attached to get used to it.

I'm not sure on sizes of these dogs, but my Shiba was very aggressive with all my Akita as puppies. I had to keep my shiba in a different room. Until the puppy was big enough and agile enough to defend himself. It to almost 6 months but by the time …

https://youtu.be/1wY7ngsJaUY I can't see my Akita doing this, because I think they might decide to tell other dogs that it's their boar. I think they might fight over it. It sure looks like these dogs are enjoying themselves. The boat is not so muc…

Don't know much about it. But it could be like training a coon dog, you would hafta obviously teach it to sent them out then reward them for finding it.

Very good work.

To me they are all similar. Just different in different ways.

I couldn't. I can barely get a reliable recall from My Akita's. My Shiba could of probably done well though he is really treat and toy motivated. With professional trainers anyway.

@shibagirl88 My Shiba has done this in my rental properties. But I didn't lable it marking cuz he was pooping too. I figured he thought the only place he couldn't go is in his house and that other houses were OK. I have also had him mark in Pet stor…

Big fat "like" for @poeticdragon's post.

I go back to the crate training. If they can't be trusted alone they get crated. I crate train for many things from tearing up furniture and rugs to peeing on the floor/marking. If they cant be trusted they get crated. They learn then through consis…

That's a Kia? I have a hard time sometimes they look a lot like a Shiba. Those expressions he gives the puppy remind me of my Shiba.

No link to the cam?

@Kibakaze. In my personal experience with my males. I have learned that body language is a big thing. The calming signals mentioned by omgtain are key to reading if a dog is trying to calm the other down. There are also signals that a dogs body tell…

Aggression with his pack mates or with strange dogs or dogs he rarely sees? Certain Males meaning reactive males? Is he OK with submissive Males?

Min 2:37 looks like a Shiba they always wind up snuck in Akita pictures. Lol that's a pretty good video. Shows some big changes over time.

Good example of them working it out. @omgtain. Thanks for putting some videos up. I do notice in the dog park video that your pup seems like he is serious/not playing when chasing and nipping kinda growling at the other dog. I could be wrong here …

So everyone knows. I don't know how to flag things and I am not sure if I was flagged. I try to be polite as possible most the time. After so many rude comments I did start to get irritated and was starting to get snippy myself. Sorry about that I …

Ares taught me one thing for sure you can socialize the crap out of them. But that don't mean they will do better or worse with their pack. Ares did great in his pack. Just not at the park after his 11th month. Kenji was socialized alot also just no…

"Many NK breeds are reputed to be reactive. Not recommended off leash. Push boundaries. Difficult to train. We are all warned to keep an eye on our dogs. These aren't rules dictating how your dog will be, just traits the breed is known for. &qu…

That was my only point. Akita are predispositioned to these certain things. It seems like I am stuck on it cuz a certain someone disagreed with me on that point and wouldn't conceed that Akita and Shiba and I have not owned other NK to say. That the…

Lol. I can't wait till you get an Akita. You will be a good owner I am sure. But you got a lot to learn and I will enjoy hearing bout it.
-
@omgtain really tho thanks for caring so much. I know you have good intentions.
-
Just one more little thing tho omgtain. Labs and boxers and Golden's. They don't need near as much training and special attention to turn into good dogs. But Pitbulls and Akita and other dogs that were bred to fight at some point in history. They do…

Lol hey you taught me how to miss quote someone and to twist words. It's probably best we stop this exchange now. Nothing good will come of it anyways.
-
You have no idea what your talking about. There you go again talking about other dogs after admitting that you beat your dogs for acting in certain ways. I don't suggest you get an Akita. I socialized Ares and Kenji and I noticed that Ares only ha…

OK just let me know when your male Akita reaches 11 months old. I look forward to hearing about how social he is and how he spends his days in your daycare. If I am wrong then the people who taught me in the past threads must be wrong too. The books…
