I'm asking for some prayers this week! Chloe's potential adopter completed her home visit last weekend and it went FABULOUSLY! She would like to meet Chloe before committing to the adoption so I will be taking a trip to Chicago. I am trying to plan it this week (if it works for the applicant) before we drive down to S.C. on Saturday. We've been having some ice storms lately so I'm praying for traveling mercies and that this might be Chloe's perfect forever home! I will be driving alone since Tim will have to work so I'm hoping that our decision to get an all wheel drive car will pay off!
This is great! I'll be praying for you guys to have a safe trip and all. I was hoping to get to meet Ms. Chloe when you travel this way, but I'd rather her find her forever home.
Your drive would be mostly interstate, which should be good. It also gives you the option of staying to the right and going the speed you are comfortable with if conditions get bad.
I hope it all works out Pam! It would be so cool if she found her perfect home so quickly.
I second what Brandon said about the interstates. They tend to be kept in good condition partly due to the heat from the friction of fast moving vehicles, but mostly because the commerce system is so dependent on goods being moved from one place to another it is a high priority for DOTs to keep the interstates in passable condition. Driving in snowy or icy conditions is something you don't forget how to do. You just have to concentrate more so you can reengage the proper mentality. And, be smart. If you're tired or it gets to be too much for you, take a break or spend the night in a hotel. A few bucks spent on a hotel room is cheap to ensure your safety. :-)
Hey Pam! Drive safely and Joey's, Ichi's, and my well wishes and thoughts will be with you on your trip. I hope you either have some good all-season tires or studded tires on your car and remember to be careful of black ice.
Thanks everyone! It's official, I'm driving tomorrow with Chloe in tow! I will most likely end up staying in Chicago before driving back on Wednesday morning. If things don't go well tomorrow, Chloe will come back with me. This person sounds PERFECT though and my heart is bubbling over.
Hey guys! We're stuck in St. Louis for an hour or so. Decided to have my car tuned up before the long drive and should be back on the road within the hour. Its pretty nasty outside - lots of freezing rain that sticks to your windshield. If I don't get to Chicago by nightfall, I'll probably stop for the night unless the rain stops. BTW, the pups knew something was up last night and kept walking all over Tim and me in bed. Nobody got ANY sleep! At one point, Chloe positioned herself between Tim and me making a huge "H" in the bed pushing us off the sides lol I'll have an update tonight but if my laptop dies on me I'll call LJ
Pam called me about an hour ago to let me know that she was stopping for the night in Springfield (about halfway). Ice had begun crusting on the windshield and there were several driving advisories being listed. So, she's stopped for the night and unsure if she'll be able to get online where she's staying. She wanted me to thank everyone for the prayers and well wishes - she really appreciates them.

And how in the world did the food/water bowl holder get up there?

Cross your fingers for me!
I am so happy for Chloe. Hopefully adopter and adoptee hit it off fantastically!
Drive safe, remember that AWD slides just as easily on ice as two wheel drive when you are trying to brake.
Brandon - that is my biggest fear! Remember, I haven't driven on icy roads since...... 2004 LOL

Be safe driving out there!
Tell my dad hi for me while you're in Springfield!
