Sundays full, but my Saturday is wide open. I wouldn't mind coming out to your house - if you want - I know you're pretty limited because of the boot thing.
So is Jazz - she was not happy at the dog park last night at all. A lab/gsd kept getting in her face and she started with the growl and I was doing my best to redirect and she was not going with it. Where was the owner of the lab - have no clue, couldn't find 'em. I ended taking Jazz out of the enclosed area, put her on the leash and walked her 2 miles.
Here's the only vid I took of them playing today - the images will be up soon - At the end you can hear Jazz get a little snarky, but that was pretty much it.
GREAT video's!!! Who's the other Shiba? It's quite a bit bigger than Jazz. PS. I LOVE Jazz' face. Definitely one of the prettiest Shiba's I've ever seen.
Thank you! I love her blonde eyelashes! I think she's very pretty, too. Jake is the other shiba - he belongs to "scarlet" on the forum. To me, he's like a little teddy bear. He's a bit bigger than Jazz - I'm not where his weight is , but he's around 8 months. Jazz weighed 19 lbs when I got her and due to the amount of walking she does now, she's at a svelte 17.5 - the vet says she where she should be. Jazz really loosened up and played - it's a side she doesn't show very often - couldn't get her to play at all when we went to mommyofniko's house a month ago.
Jazz is beautifull and Jake has had a crush on her from the moment he saw her 3 months ago! Even though Jake is larger, he has nothing but respect for Jazz and they played with the typical Shiba etiquette and Jazz only having to scold him once.
At 10.5 months I think Jake is about 23 lbs and looking a little fat in these pictures! We'll start our hikes again in a week or so -- get him down to about 21-22 lbs. I found out I can take him to day camp for $20 a day at PetStuff so I'm gonna start doing that a couple days a week. He will enjoy having company while I'm at work. Dog walkers are too expensive and the other daycares I've looked into drain my wallet as well.
I was just surprised just how much larger - longer, taller and more muscular - Jake is. You can really see his muscles in the 4th pic of the last set. In the last pic you can really see the size difference...and he doesn't look fat, he's just bigger!
And Jake has great taste. What a pretty girl to fall for. BTW, I love Jake's coloring, he is really red - my fave color.
Jakes only eats once a day but I think I'm giving him more candy treats than is good for him. Oh, what an attitude lately, since I haven't been able to walk him. After taking him to PetStuff Sunday, they told me he would need the kennel cough before entry into the Day Camp, but I had no idea that meant two days before entry! Got there, had to take him back, had to take him to vet tonight to get that so now it won't be until Thursday before he can go to camp and they may kick him out if the dogs there are unacceptable to his little agenda..... My ankle is still swollen and far walks are not an option -- not to mention it is 90 degrees as I type.
O.K. Highest bidder gets the Jake Man -- tonite! (trolling e-bay today gives me the punch line) My child needs a roommate, yet refuses to accept one. If I get another one, any other one/kind, it's gonna be one that won't put up with his little attitude. He's run all over me the past 2 days! and I'm exhausted from him. No time for self -- gym, forget it, extra circulars, forget it... ME ME ME.
LJ, you have no idea of this puppyhood for demanding, controlling Shibas! Jazz was a lady when you got her. Jake is a bullheaded, self-centered, egotistical forget you Shiba!
I know, I know - I won the shiba lottery on Jazz as a rescue.
If I lived closer, I'd be more than happy to come and take Jake for walks, but an hour there (no traffic), an hour walk, an hour back - can't forget Jazz has to have her walk - it's just not happening - ;-P
Great videos LJ! I LOVE seeing Jazz play...I never get to see it in real life. She's great!
And I'm so glad Jake and her get along so well. It's great they played so nicely.
As far as walking Jake, if you're still in need next week Elaine, let me know. I'm going to be out of town again after tomorrow, but I can come give you a hand after I get back.
I think the smaller setting helps - she may be a bit overwhelmed at the dog parks. At home, she's always been that way - which is why I laugh at her so much when we are at the dog parks - it's just so funny to see her park persona.
Maybe we can try the cookout thing later on this summer - maybe Jazz will play, maybe not.
On a side note, our training begins this week. The first night is a time where we meet with the instructor only - next week the dogs will join us.
Well, training went pretty well. My nephew took a bunch of shots, but only 3 were usable. Jazz did fairly well at training. She did not like the stand command, but is doing well on "Sit" and "Leave It". Of course, she was not happy to find out that there would be dogs at her training. Had several growls at dogs that came close, but she ignored those that were outside of her personal space (approx. 5 feet). She loves the treats that she gets for training - it's the only time she gets those. The pics below have her standing (and waiting for her release command) and sitting (and waiting for her release command).

Jake is beginning to shed his coat, so at the next meetup, we'll get more pics.
