Awwww. I bet that was quite a site. Now you have to teach her to ride along on his back. ;-)

    THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!
DO IT RUI !!! DO IT!!!
  • edited November -1
It would be interesting, heheh. But I don't think she'll be up for it. Unless he lets her chew on his ears. :-)
  • edited November -1
that seems like a reasonable compromise.

That's cute... I agree with Jessica, I think they can meet in the middle on that one and make it work. :o)

o.O This is what happens when you accidentally block the akita section of the forum.

Where the heck did Kuma go? All I see is a giant bear lmao. And Nyx looks like she's slowly losing her kitten look and more of an adult feline. Love it.

We once tried to put our cat on a tie-out to spend time with him outside. He just tried to jump back into the apartment through the screen. Our female cat would just roll on her back with the harness on and moan. Good luck walking Nyx. People might call you crazy though, there is a lady by us who has like 40 foot leads for her two cats, she's our local crazy cat lady.

From the start, we were planning on taking her along, to try and avoid any "jealousy"(humanizing). But she's always rolled on her side as soon as we put the harness on her. But lately she has been getting more and more curious every time I'm preparing to take Kuma out, she'll play with the leash and even get her head out the front door, to see what's out there(nothing much, just the lift). So yesterday, she kind of put herself in Kuma's harness, and I closed it for herand picked her up with t, and she was pretty confortable, so we decided to take her out. Well, dragged her out for the first metres if it,'til the lift. But then she got curious, and then scared and curious. Let's see, if we try it again, how she'll do.

i can't believe how big this boy gets in such a short amount of time! his tail is marvelous, and his face is maturing!!

OMG, he's so handsome! Great spam!!! I love the two of him in the back of the car, looking so alert and interested. Yay Kuma!

    Yea! Kuma spam! :o)

He is look'n good man! He's getting bigger, tho I can tell his growth rate has slowed a bit. He looks very well behaved in the car - maybe he can teach Hilo to be better behaved when in the car... he's kinda a spazz. lol.

His coat looks really nice too.

    Thanks guys!
Actually there's something that's puzzling me a bit about his coat. Lately he's been extra meticulous with his legs while grooming. So much, that there are spots on his legs you can see skin. It started a few days a go. On those spots he's chewed and cut the fur down to almost nothing. We have a theory that it is because he tends to get some pee on his back legs (cause he's always peeing against the wind) and he wants to take it out. I'll give him a day or two of cleaning his legs myself and see if the behaviour stops before going to the vet.

Brad, how long did it take Hilo to blow his puppy coat? Kuma has been doing it for 2 months now and it keeps coming, but it heaad for example still has loads of black undercoat. Yesterday I brushed and furminated about 2 and a half Nyxs out of him and it just keeps coming...

We weighed the little big man yesterday, and he's now 24,4Kg (53,8 lbs) and he's about 55/56 cm to the withers (about 22inches)!

He's got the best smile Rui! Just look at how happy he is. :-)

What a good lookin' big guy! Do you think he might be having an allergy problem on his legs? Is the skin reddish looking?
  • edited November -1
Man he handsome! He looks great - and huge! Hilo is only about 10lb more than him.

Patty - No, the skin looks normal. That made me look away from allergies when I thought of them. I'm thinking it's a behavioural thing, but I can't put my finger on what (if anything) might be troubling him. For now, the pee thing seems more consistent. He actually stopped it once I cleaned it myself, and lately the stronger winds stopped so he's not getting splatter on him.

Hes also lifting his leg to pee every now and then.

I took Kuma to the vet today, as his legs weren't better and he started on the front ones. She doesn't think it's an allergy, but might be something related to mites. She gave him a shot and I got a spray to soothe the itch. I'm to return next Friday to see if there's any improvement. I should have just gone earlier instead of thinking it might be him being thorough with his cleaning. But she said sometimes it starts that way and it opens the change for mites to set in.

Sorry to hear that Rui. I hope he's doing better with the shot and the anti-itch spray!
  • edited November -1
What a beautiful boy! Hope he gets over his rash/itches.

    Snf

Thanks guys. I can't say if he's improving yet, but it's only been two days. Though what I've been reading...I should know better than to go read up on what I'm told, cause I have this tendency to "Hope for the best, but expect the worse". Let's see what comes out of this.

Awwww. I love Kuma! :-) He and Nyx make the cutest couple. ;-)

Yeah, they're cute as h3ll. They can also be annoying as h3ll, hehehe.

We went to the park today, and I tried letting go of Kuma's leash for the first time, since there were other dogs around and they were pretty much all the same age and all wanted to play. It went pretty well and he even made a half decent recall (it's always harder when there are other dogs in the equation).

Both Rottie and GSD were females, the GSD is a dinamo! She never stops unless she's holding a stay.

It's a pity I couldn't take more decent photos, but I left my camera at home, and the phone's camera wasn't working properly it seems. I could have loads of video material. :-(

That's really cute - do they spend a lot of time in the pen together? Its so sweet how they get a long so well.

You're a brave man Rui. I dropped Joey's leash to play once when he was much younger and he did great, but I haven't had the guts to do it again.

They look like they had a blast! :-)

Brad - the pen is always open, so sometimes Nyx goes inside to play/sleep on Kuma's bed. She likes it more than he does. He prety much only goes in there to eat, nothing else. I'm only keeping it assembled because it comes in handy for time outs, every so often. They do get along very well, sometimes Nyx gets overwhelmed and screams a bit, and we tell them to stop. The other day, while I was talking to Nat online, Nyx managed to pierce Kuma's nose, so it bled a bit but nothing serious. So far it's the worst injury they've caused on each other.(I'm knocking on wood right now)

Dave- It took me a good 3 minutes between thinking it and actually doing it, and I was still moving around so I could be in a better position to run after him if he would think of taking off. I actually did it earlier today in the square behind the building I live in, but to have him hold a stay while I walked away. He did great and even sat and did a recall.
