Nemo has never gone after his quiet spot, no interest in it I guess.  However Sara_R who posts on here sometimes, her shiba Yuri chewed through a few of them before they just gave up.  I have bundled Whizzer's tags with a Zip-Tie before.  It wont stop the discoloration of fur, but it stops them from jingeling all the time.

Whizzer went home yesterday.  Nemo is a bit lonely.  Here is a few shots of them playing:

Oh poor nemo.  He needs extra love now!

So when Whizzer was over I tried to document Nemo doing the Shiba 500.  Which was hard to do, because he requires a human participant to stomp their feet, clap their hands, and give some chase, so I was doing that while shooting from the hip with my camera.  Whizzer does not understand the Shiba 500 and usually just barks or gets in the way when it happens.  Sometimes he gets run over.  Also check out Moxie in one photo peaking out from the cat closet to see what all the fuss is about.  Mainly I tried to get pictures of Nemo flying onto and off of the couch:

This past Sunday we took Nemo over to visit with his friends Hanzo and Yuri, who belong to Sara_R who posts here every now and then (and her boyfriend Daniel).  Nemo has an interesting relationship with each of these dogs.  When Nemo and Hanzo get together there is always some attitude to begin with.  Both of them try and act like some hot shit alpha but really neither of them are.  It takes about 10 minutes and a few guarded introductions to get things worked out.  After we get past that phase they always play like crazy, it's really strange.  Hanzo is from Holland, so maybe Nemo talks shit about the Dutch and Hanzo calls Nemo an ethnocentric American asshat.

However it is not as strange as Nemo and Yuri's relationship.  Outside in the open, at the park, or in the yard, Yuri LOVES Nemo and wants to be his girlfriend, and Nemo loves her and wants her to be his mistress (Takara is his girlfriend).  Inside however, Yuri wants nothing to do with Nemo.  We aren't really sure why.  She usually sits in Sara's lap and watches everything from there.  They got near each other on one of the couches on accident this weekend and a huge bark/snark fest started.  So Yuri will not be in many of the following pictures.

Here are a few pictures of Nemo and Hanzo.

Autofocus screwed me on that one, but I still kind of like it.

Nemo is a beautiful pup! LOVE the pix.

So strange about his indoor interaction with Yuri.

Ditto, great photos! I love the one with Yuri hanging out in the back on Sarah's lap.

Lucy has some strange interactions with her friends as well. Nothing you mentioned sounds out of the ordinary to me. Smile

    Thanks for the comments.

Harlow - I changed this thread to the category of "Members Only". I did this because Harlow posted an email address... It is no problem if you want to post an email address on the forum, just be advised that it is visible to the whole world - if the thread is set to "Members Only" it is only visible to authenticated (logged-in) members. So at least that filters out most of the people in the world.

Another option is to "whisper" contact details to a member if you want to share them.

Anyway, let me know if you are ok with your email address being visible to the world, if so, I will set this thread back to the category "Shiba Inu". If not, just edit your post and whisper the info to Brandon.

I love the Shiba flower pins - so cute!

Brandon - I love your pics, I never get sick of looking at them. Nemo is so good looking.

Brada: Thanks for thinking about that issue. That email is listed on Koshi and Harlow's website [linky] so I figured that it was out there for the whole world to see anyway. This can go back to the Shba Inu category. Wati 'til you see my 'Shiba in a swing' needle felted necklace!

ok, I changed it back - thanx! Just look'n out for you. Wink

Love love love the Hanzo Nemo pictures.  The HUGE smiles are the best ones.  Those boys are good buddies.  It always makes me think of boys in the halls at school who slug each other in the shoulders until it hurts and then go get lunch together.  Haha.

Yuri is an odd duck, when the laser pointer came out, she *so* wanted to get in there and play with it, but just couldn't bring herself to get off the couch.

Beautiful pictures as always, Brandon.  You have quite the eye!

Thanks Sara.  I think your description of their relationship is  pretty dead on.

This past weekend I took Nemo over to play with his brother Turi and his friend Fin.  Their family was out of town for the day so I had to get them out on a potty break.  Took some pictures while I had them out in the fenced in areas.  Got some good ones, and a few goofy ones.  Some are a tiny bit grainy since it was nearly dusk when I was taking these and I had to boost the ISO a bit.  Turi also has some really silly fur rigth now, because he does not allow people to brush him.  He turns into Cujo.

A gallery of 30 pictures is here:

That last one cracks me up!!! So funny....and cute.

Great action shots! Do you have your camera set to 'continuous shoot'? I especially like the one where all three are squished together and Turi has his tongue sticking out.
  • edited November -1
those are great - I love the Nemo face, that is like his signature face. lol!
  • edited November -1

Harlow - Every now and then I put my camera into "continuous" shoot mode, but usually I just shoot one at a time.

Nemo does make that face a lot, he makes it the most around Turi.  Tuir makes a lot of strnage faces, if you go to the gallery there are a bunch of them.

  • edited November -1
LOL, Brandon you're the best at taking action shots.  The last one is GREAT!!!  I would take that and frame it!  Great pics as always!

    Gorgeous pictures....gorgeous dogs....

  • edited November -1

Very nice photos, Brandon!1 That last one is really one of a kind! Great!

Nemo looks quite a bit bigger than his brother...might be perspective though.

  • edited November -1

Nemo is about 1-2 inches taller than Turi and probably weights 5lbs more.

The top photo gives you probably the best perspective of their relative sizes, the bottom one, Nemo is standing up as tall as he can, w hile Turi is crouching down.

  • edited November -1

Very cool Brandon! I always enjoy your photos. You weren't kidding about Turi's coat huh? That must suck to clean up after.

BTW, it might be time to make a new thread: "Nemo's thread: the sequel" cause it takes like two minutes to load this one and it never starts you off in the right place due to all the pictures expanding as they load.

    Either way, keep it up!

I just wanna say how cool I think it is that Nemo and his bro gets to play - they were both rescues right? I think that is the case, and it's just super special that they both got great forever homes and still get to see each other now and then. You can't really ask for a better situation. It's just really cool Brandon.
