I think you should have that picture blown up and framed. I truly love it. I'd even buy a copy for my wall. Just like the rest of us I think the empowerment of the Shiba is priceless, enduring and unlike any of their tamed canines. I am learning so much about these beautiful, domineering, respectful companions. Folks on this forum choose difference and a uniqueness only the Shiba possess. And the best part, we desire and can handle it, while other can't. I picture all of us as loving nature and its wilderness, city dwellers or otherwise, in heart that is who we are and our Shibas help get us there.
YES. I truly would create a wall frame of it, and even make one for your sharing and return it. It is a calendar shot if you're into $ and profits.
I love it. I don't believe Jake's fangs are that large yet, but I'm sure in maturity he will make them appear. He's just 9 months. I don't know when I will visit the North Coast to get such a shot of my child. Thanks Brandon!!
Scarlet - Do you have much of a history of working with files. Do you want a JPG or a TIFF? I can send you either one. Any idea what size you are going for so I can crop it properly?
If people are going for just a regular photo copy of it what size do you want? 4x6? 5x7? 8x10?
Tsuki - I use a Nikon D50.
And actually I am starting to try and make some money with my camera. I haven't made business cards yet or actively pursued any clients but I have a blog/webpage going:
I'm going to try and get business cards printed and dropped off at some petstores within the next month.
Any comments on the blog would be appreciated, any lacking info? I tried to make a real webpage once, and well I don't know how to do any of that. I think the blogsetup will work.
Also, any pictures I have ever posted, I would share print quality JPGs with you folks if you request specific ones. Feel free to e-mail me about any of it.
Seriously Brandon, congrats on your new business! Once the word gets out, I have no doubt your inbox will fill up with requests. ---- What is the biggest you would recommend printing your shots? If it's 8x10, I'd love that. Bigger would be great too!
I'd love to do 11x14 using hi-res - that's the size that I usually have my photos printed at when I'm framing them. By any chance do you use snapfish? You can upload the hi-res for poster size and email the link - the 11x14 costs around $7 for them to print. I use them for a fair amount of my reg pics cause I get them for 8-9¢
And here is a download link for an 11x14 crop Tif file. This format should give you more to work with for those who are interested in trying to blow it up to a much larger size.
I'll be honest, I don't know how big files from my camera can get before they distort. I really don't print that many pictures off. When I do, they are all 8x10 or smaller. I've never tried to make a large poster size print or anything. I know people have said that they have made 24x36 from a D50 file, but I haven't myself.
Thanks Brandon! I can't wait to get that up on my wall. :-) Here's a page that claims to have a table with the maximum print size for 200 and 300 pixels per inch prints given the number of megapixels: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/digital-camera-pixel.htm. IIRC, the D50 is 6.1MP so at 200 PPI it would be 15"x10" max size before distortion.
Brandon, this picture needs to be sent into Dog Fancy or Shiba's First or some magazine for publication. You are quite talented in capturing the moment.
I've searched and searched for a Shiba magazine that allows photo submissions, but haven't found one. I vote you start one of your own for all us to enjoy!
Will do - Do you have studio name that you use, so I can give proper credit? If not, I'll just use your name - if that's ok? I try to make sure on the photos that I frame to give credit even if they are my own (Stevenson Studios).
Well the little business I'm trying to start is just called BW Pet Photography. What I need to learn to do, is put the name of my name on my images. I wish you could do it in Lightroom. I'm good with Lightroom, bad with photoshop.
I'll use that as the reference then. I'm not familar with lightroom, so can't help you there. I'm working on learning more in photoshop - I've used Illustrator and InDesign with work on our advertising, but not as much with my photography. I switched to digital just a few years ago - I was a diehard film person and still occasionally use film if I'm looking to get that "perfect" shot.

Wow, well thats good that nothing bothers him at night. It would suck if Nemo started to get worked up because of Whizzer.
That is an awesome pic Brandon! Gotta love those Shiba Faces

Soap Box Turned Off.
I don't have it on the wall, and I'm not sure why, it's always been one of my favorites.
scarlet, that is beautiful! i do find out so much more about the world around me through my shibas' eyes.
brandon, what kind of camera do you use?

Wow congrats Brandon on your new business! Im sure you will do very well! Your photography is excellent...and the moments you capture are so great!
As for the photo's, I think 8x10 would be great! I think action photo's look much better when they are bigger.
Well I don't use snapfish. So here are the photos.
Download link for an 8x10 crop JPG. This should work for most people.

Those files were saved at 360 pixels per inch, so it seems like people should not have any problems when printing.
A Shiba magazine might appreciate it, I fear people who don't know Shibas may think it's a picture of dogs fighting.
Brandon,
Thanks for the links on the photos - I've just uploaded it to print on the 11x14 and it looks great! I can't wait to frame it.
