And I met Brad and Jen through the meetup. I love it and I think my most trusted friends have been through there (meaning i would trust them with my kids!!).
As usual Brandon, awesome awesome actions shots. I love the tail pull. That seems to be part of Lucy and Joey's new favorite game. Joey grabs a tennis ball and hip checks Lucy on his way by. Lucy gives chase biting at his tail. You did an awesome job of capturing that!
Brandon - I always get excited when i see this thread bumped back up cuz I know you must've added more awesome photos! When I start shopping for a new camera, Im definately going to hit you up for recommendations! They look like they are having so much fun in the snow!
They do have fun in the snow. There is a little bit of it left it spots where it was really deep and piled up. Most of these mounds of snow are dirty and disgusting, Nemo just loves to roll in them.
It is nice to hear that Shibas in other parts of the country are keeping the tail pull going strong. When Nemo used to be better with dogs, he would be all over dogs tails at the park, a lot of dogs really didn't like it. It always was kind of funny though to see an 80lb lab get taken down by a 25lb Shiba as he turned himself into an anchor/skid steer on the dogs tail. Man some owners would get pissed.
Brad - I like that shot of Nemo coming through the snow also. They can really hustle when they want too. I'd like to create a book of Shiba action shots, people might think I'm selling a dog fighting book though.
What a beautiful story and some really great photos. On your shots, do you tend to stay on auto or are you doing maunal? I like the D50, but am really wanting the D200.
I shoot mainly in Aperture Priority mode and I select my own ISO speed. The rest of the time I shoot in Manual. I'm still learning a lot of stuff, but my photos are getting better. The Automodes on the D50 work nicely for when you first get the camera and don't have a clue. I learned a lot by reading the settings that the camera had set, and then adjusting from there if I didn't like the results the camera gave.
I'd like a D300, I just need someone to give me like $2,000.
Well, since I'm in town I can finally catch up on all the great photos (at home my dial-up gives me a stern "NO" when I try to load this thread). Just want to say, they're all great! I love shiba play!
I'm going for a D80, as soon as I can. I find the D200 and 300 too heavy to carry around all day if I'm out. The D80 is basically a D200 without some advanced features I wouldn't use that much. The only real advantage I can remember on the D200 is the possibility of attaching a telescope, for digiscoping, right out of the box without loosing metering.
You're exactly right. I do a lot of landscape photography (for work & personal) and sometimes I cannot get anywhere near where I need to be to take the shots that'll work for lenses that I have available to me at work.
Nemo is coming over tonight. He will be with us for like 10 days or something as his parents are going on a river cruise in the south of France. Boy do I feel bad for them...
I don't know if I mentioned it but Whizzer is a basket case during thunderstorms, and it's thunderstorm season. I hope things don't get to crazy.
Well there was a slight thunderstorm last night. Mainly wind. Even on two valium Whizzer spent a good hour scratching at the linoleum floor of the bathroom and panting his little hear out. Poor guy.
He stays in the bathroom at night, with a gate across the door. At home he sleeps on the bed, but with the cats, he can't do that at our place.
Yeah it's pretty bad. His mom went to a small discussion put on by a lady who wrote a book about helping dogs cope with thunderstorms and other things. The lady even admitted that for some dogs, there just isn't much you can do, if they get that worked up. I guess they tend to get worse with age too. A couple of people at the discussion group said their dogs wouldn't poop or pee for like 48 hours after a thunderstorm, really, really crazy things. If only we could talk to dogs. Nemo has a lot of issues, but he is really good about loud noises, thunderstorms, and being left alone all day, things that some dogs just can't cope with, so I am always thankful he is good about those things.
I think it took two hours for the Valium to kick in, or the storm passed. We always feel so terrible for him. Luckily during the day he can sleep on the bed with Nemo when he is at our place, when he is at home he stays in the kitchen, otherwise he would try to jump through the window to get the mailman. He hates the mailman.
Yes I'm sure he took them. He ate the big gob of peanut butter they were stuck in right in front of me. However the most his Mom had ever given him was one, which she said had never worked. So she went to the vet for his regular checkups and asked about it again. The vet explained that he could have up to three. Since he had never had more than one, we went with two. Maybe it just wans't enough. He's under 20lbs so I just didn't feel like pumping him to full of drugs.
They probably would like some pupcakes. Whizzer is fine this morning though, happily playing with Nemo.
Poor Whizzer . Glad to hear that he's back to his normal self and playing with Nemo. How does Nemo react to Whizzer when he gets worked up over a thunderstorm?
While Whizzer is all worked up, Nemo sleeps peacefuly in his crate. Things don't bother him at night. If he ever makes a peep, or whines during the night, I know it's serious and we head outside.

Yea, great pics, you should create a Shiba action shots book!
I LOVE Nemo's face in the second pic (on this page), he looks so happy and focused.

Great photos Brandon, as usual! Great timing! You work wonders with your D50!
I like the photo of Nemo coming through the snow a lot, he seems much larger!
Glad you guys are enjoying the photos.

Yeah....Whizzer is coming over. I guess I am to used to typing Nemo.
There will surely be some pictures taken.

my friend has a cairn terrier that obsessives over tennis balls so
much that she pants and screams and shakes if you take them away.
is that similar to how Whizzer is with T-storms?
p.s. we need more nemo spam
I'm not sure if I ever posted this picture. It's Nemo and Turi playing (yes playing, I swear) at the dog park last winter.
