Well, I stole a photo from Dave. This is from his pics from the meetup this past Sunday - I removed the background on the shot because I didn't want anything to detract from Jazz.

In previous threads, I've mentioned my Siberian Husky. I was going through a bunch of photos this evening and came across these shots. These were taken somewhere between 1995 - 1999, when he was 6 - 9 yrs old. His full name was Torbin Vladimir of Gorky Park. We called him Gorky for short. He was the first dog I had ever purchased. I got him when he was 6 wks old, on my birthday in 1990. When I was away at college, my parents would carry the speakerphone outside so I could talk to my dog. I have no idea what he thought about it, but my parents said he would turn his head to the right and then to the left and would occasionally lick the box. He was a great husky and quite amenable to being trained. He passed away at the age of 13 (almost 14) on September 28, 2003.

    Awww! What a gorgeous pup! I love Sibe's :) ~
  • edited November -1
LJ He is gorgeous! I had two female rescued huskies who were amazing wonderful dogs.

Gorky was gorgeous, but huge. He never could have been shown. He weighed in at 97 lbs. He was the runt of the litter, too. His parents were spot on as far as breed specs go.
  • edited November -1
What a great looking dog he was. His full name was great too.
  • edited November -1
Thanks! His father was Prince Vladimir of St. Petersburg and his mother was Lady Anastasia of Gorky Park. The family's last name that I bought him from was Torbin. They were pretty creative on all the names. One of the pups was named Rasputin - he had a mask similar to Demon in Snow Dogs.

LJ: Thanks for sharing the pics of your husky -- what a beautiful, gorgeous doggie, and glad you have such great memories of him!

Take care, and may Gorky rest in peace!

I met up with Rachael and Chad (and baby Elijah) at the local dog park. Jazz was not into being outside and I held her most of the time. Afterwards we went to get pictures made of Jazz and do a meet and greet with Victoria Stilwell. I'll post those pics once I get them (I forgot my camera).

It was such a perfect day today. We've had a week of cold weather, so having a 65 degree day with sun was just wonderful.

This past Saturday a local rescue did a fundraiser that included a meet & greet with Victoria Stilwell of “It’s me or the dog” from Animal Planet.

I had a friend who did Photo sessions with the dogs to raise money for the rescue, so I didn’t take my camera – completely forgetting that I might want it during the signing. I held Jazz most of the time and fielded a lot of questions about shibas in general. Ms. Stilwell commented on how calm Jazz was (with all the noise & children around) and made a point to mention the harness. She said it was an excellent choice for the breed & small dogs in general. She was very gracious and spent as much time as she could with each person that had come to the fundraiser.

My friend, Sharma (the photographer), will be sending me shots this week of the meet & greet, as well as Jazz’s proofs – I’ll load those once I get them.

Wow! I would have loved to meet Victoria Stillwell. She seems like such a great person.

Can't wait to see Jazz's proofs!!

good as always to see Jazz! And what a beautiful Husky!

Can't wait to see Jazz's proofs! She's one of my favorite shibas ever.

Funny story for you - this past weekend we took our shibas and Hachi up to a tennis court to play. It was covered in melting snowy slush and cold water, so after about a 1/2 hour - Hachi walks over to Pam and looks up at her, which made Pam pick her up. I look over and I'm like "oh, this is priceless, she's got your number Pam!" and Pam's all "She told me to ;) I swear".
Shiba mind control, Jazz style. At its finest.

Thanks - she's pretty near & dear to me, too!

Once you obey the shiba mind control once, it takes less & less time to pick up the signals. My favorite is when Jazz does this to complete strangers. The smile on her face is great when she has successfully conquered another human.

Okay - I've got some photos from Jazz's session with Sharma and some of the still shots that Sharma took of Victoria Stilwell - I hope you enjoy! By the way, Ms. Stilwell was very gracious - she charged no fee as part of the fundraiser for the rescue and seemed to enjoy being there.

These photos were taken by Sharma Ferrugia of Esee Photography. They were taken as part of a fundraiser for PetZone Dog Rescue in Monroe, GA. Part of the day, Sharma photographed dogs, some pretty well behaved – some not so much. After this, Victoria Stilwell (It’s Me or the Dog) visited for a meet & greet.

To see more of Sharma’s work, please visit http://www.eseephotography.com – absolutely amazing! I could not be happier about these photos! BTW, I do have Sharma’s permission to repost these photos.

That's so awesome .... VS's comment about Jazz is so positive! I just love the black and white photo : )

I was wondering did you order your Puppia harness online? If you did, how did you know what size would fit Jazz? I am annoyed none of the stores around here carry them and I only see the product on dogs at the park or in passing. I really like this brand of harness since it is so flexible and lightweight and fits the chest of a Shiba or Pug sized dog so nicely.

The first one I bought was from a store about an hour and a half from me. I bought an XL because that was where Jazz fit in their size guide (http://www.ipetconnection.com/category_s/82.htm). It did fit her, but after several months it was pretty loose. I went back to the puppia site (http://www.puppiaworld.com) and contacted them directly to find out who sold in my area. Took a couple of days, but I finally got a list. I use a L now - it's a little snug in the beginning but stretched out just perfect for her.

oh wow! that b&w of Jazz is gorgeous! I hope you are going to frame it!
  • edited November -1
I am - I got a 5x7 with the donation & then bought an 8x10 of the b&w, and 5x7's of the others that she took - all of it went to the rescue, so I feel pretty happy about that.

Ahh, Jazz looks like a perfect little doggy model. She's so pretty.
